Anywho! Anyone own a peacock? Do you have a lot of land or a smaller parcel? Have you run into any difficulties having one around?

We had a few when I was a teenager. Loud, serve no real purpose.

There are a lot of them in a neighborhood in Arcadia, CA next to the Los Angeles Arboretum. They're beautiful birds but I would think they likely cause a lot of problems. Phone Post

there are several that live in my neighborhood and wander about as they see fit. They are very loud - it is a cool sound if they are more than a block or two from you, but if you are near them it can be annoying. I personally like seeing them in my yard and finding their feathers on occasion, but wouldn't keep them as pets out of respect for my neighbors' peace and quiet.

This. We have them in a park behind us. Sounds like someone is killing a cat or small child.

My inlaws have a few. They are without a doubt the best watchdogs you can have. If anyone goes near their place they let out the most God awful sound alerting you that something isn't right.

I would get one. It's purpose would be to walk around and look good. Maybe when we get a bit more land. Right now, the focus is getting more chickens. What kind of housing do they need? Are they friendly at all?

This. They're alright to have around if you don't mind being woke up at 5 every morning.

Back when I was a kid a peacock just randomly showed up to our house. Ended up staying around for a few years and then disappeared as quickly as it came. Seeing as this was in Pennsylvania, I have no idea where it came from.

They sleep in trees.

And they're friendly enough....at least after they get to know you. I could feed the one that used to live around me out of my hand.
