Anyone with Brock at #2 or #3 is a moron

I completely agree with the OP.  Brock has a one hit wonder (size, wrestling, ground and pound)all mixed together, that's how he defeates guys.

Brock has been exposed, for sure.

Also Fedors first 6 fight stats...5-1 and his opponents 41-31 and 3 of those six fighters never had a win(0-2, 0-2, 0-1) so keep knocking Brock, but at least he is fighting real guys out the gate.

EPGScott - It's amazing that people argue about rankings, yet have no f'n clue how they work.
They are NOT based on what you could do or what would happen. They ARE based on what has happened.

They're based on whatever you want. It sounds like you're specifying a list of "the top 10 best records in this weightclass".

I completely agree with you, Delvin, however I would put Josh Barnett in front of Brock, once Barnett gets to fighting again.

I'm not going to try a Top 10. Rankings need to be based on actual accomplishments, so a lot of the UFC vs. Strikeforce stuff is just speculation. A lot of it hinges on where you rank Fedor. If you still have Fedor high, then Werdum and Bigfoot are going to be very high, and the UFC guys will suffer in your rankings.

Based on actual W/L in the relevant time-frame, I'd say:
Cain > Brock > Carwin > Mir > Nog
and
JDS > Werdum > Big Foot > Fedor

If you have Overeem ahead of these guys, you're just speculating. I too expect him to beat some of them and shoot up the ranking soon but, based on actual W/L, he's not there yet.

Moran, IMO. Phone Post

Also, if (and it's a big "if") Brock beats JDS, he has an excellent argument that he should be Top 2.

how the fuck is cain # 1 for beating brock which lost to carwin? and hwo the fuck is JDS # 2? lol is there any rankings that dont go by jsut ufc ?

techancally but i thikn most of us know who really won lol, ranking brock even in the top 5 is insane, no way ion hell is cain #1 and JDS #2 also, there needs to be a real worldwide ranking system, do people really thikn cain is the best heavy fighter in the world atm? come on

Sherfag has Brock at no.2 ...it's sickening

JoshSanchez - Moran, IMO. <img src="/images/phone/post_tag.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>

At least someone around here has the presents of mine to point out glaringly obvious spelling mistakes.

Brock can't take a punch to the face so how can he be no 2?

While I agree with OP its just some other dudes opinion, I never seek out the rankings and just enjoy the fights we get to see.

Yeah, the guy who choked out the other guy.

"techancally but i thikn most of us know who really won lol"

Are you retarded?

The idea that rankings only take into account that some guy won rather than how they won is one of the more retarded things about MMA journalism. Brock's entire career at this point is hanging on Carwin gassing worse than anybody I've ever seen 4 minutes into the fight, and Frank Mir being the most overrated fighter ever.

#1 Cain.  He demolished the undisputed #1 after surviving the initial onslught from the big man.

2 Junior Dos Santos.  Undefeated in the UFC with knock out wins over Werdum, CroCop, a host of others and impressive decision win over Big COuntry.

3 Brock Lesnar.  The former #1 slips to #3 after suffering a tough defeat against the #3 fighter in the world, (Cain Valasquez).

4 Fabricio Werdum.  Big wins over top 5 Fedor and top 10 Big Foot Silva.

5 Shane Carwin.  Undefeated run ended when he was defeated by world #1 Brock Lesnar in a fight where he had the upper hand briefly.  Has stopped every other opponent in the first round including former contender Gabrial Gonzaga and 2 time champion Frank Mir.

6 Big Foot Silva   Destroyed Fedor Emelianenko, (former world top 5) and AndreiArlovski

7 Frank Mir.  Defeated Antonio Noguiera by knock out after dominating the fight from wire to wire.  Also defeated Cheik Kongo and and unranked Brock Lesnar.  Lost to world top 5 rnaked Lesnar and Carwin.

8 Alistar Overeem.  Awesome heavyweight prospect.  An up and down carear at LHW appears to be in over drive after winning in K1 and Dream.  Has eviscerated last handful of opponents albeit not of the top level variety, (Rogers notwithstanding).  Better opposition looms in StriekForce Grand Prix

9 Sergei Kharitonov.  Impressive win over Andrei Arlovski in StrikeForce Grand Prix. Has defeated Alistar Overeem as well.

10 Fedor Emelianenko.  Was blasted in his last bout by fringe top 10 Antonio Silva.  Was defeated in previous bout by fringe top 10 Fabricio Werdum.  Last won a fight in 2009 over fringe top 10 Bret Rogers.  Remains on list based on career body of work although he himself concedes that perhaps his time has passed.  Further inactivity or another loss removes him from top 10 indefinately.

Werdum number 3? Didn't Dos Santos beat Werdum rather easily?

i can see that, if he defeats rogers and sergei he's definitely above brock, at least until brock fights JDS
