a statement made to prove how he could eeck out a comfortable win through top control with just enough striking to keep the ref happy and keep it on the ground, just like the wrestlers do.

I am convinced that this was Aoki's intention. His pre-fight week was all about his dislike for the "boring wrestling" style.

That being said, it was still an impressive display by Aoki over a fighter that did impress in the UFC not so long ago.
