And while I don't think we're on par with terrorists, we have certainly fallen from grace in the eyes of the world with our tactics. Holding people indefinitely at Guantanamo Bay and performing "renditions", shipping those we suspect to nations that will torture them for us are two good examples.

I agree 100%... It comes to a point where you just can't have a rational discusion with some people because they have a fundemental differance in how they view things.
I believe that if you want something in life, you should work hard for it. I believe if you want to give to charity it should be on your own free will, and I believe that you should not be punished for being succesful. These are fundamental views in which liberals completely disagree with, which makes a rational conversation impossible.

First, what an intelligent post. I can really tell that you study the issues and have strong knowledge backing your argument.
Second, I'm not a democrat and I strongly oppose abortion unless the mothers life is in danger.
Finally, anyone that thinks America is in good shape after the last 8 years must live completely isolated from the rest of the country.
I don't think America is in good shape after the last eight years, and I also don't think the Bush administration is a succes story. I do however, think that it was more than just the Bush adminstration's errors that have caused our current problems. You can't do that much damage in just eight years. Clinton's N.I.N.J.A (No Income No Job No Assests) loans played a huge role in getting us where we are today.
I think alot of Americans need to be held accountable for some of the irresponsible choices they made (I.E. Buying a house with an adjustable rate mortgage, buying a house with a maortgage payment they couldn't afford, etc.) The banks (and the Clinton Administration) were without a doubt wrong to approve mortgages for people who could not afford them, but how irresponsible of the citizens to accept these mortgages, knowing they would not have the income to make the payments they were "pre-qualified" for. I pre-qualified for a much more expensive house than I eventually ended up purchasing, but as a responsible person I took on one where I knew I would not run in to trouble.
