Are fighters able to beat USADA or is USADA letting guys slip through or both?
I do think guys are beating it.
Yes. The cheaters are always miles ahead of the testers. As long as there is money in sports, athletes will use PED.

I'm sure lots are doing plenty of stuff, still. Probably not everyone. And USADA has definitely made it a lot tougher to get away with stuff.
I don't want to darken his name, but I thought Chandler not taking the Ferguson fight was a little suspicious.
Clearly that’s the case.

Except he’s in the testing pool and already being tested. WTF does taking the Ferguson fight have to do with it? According to USADA’s website, he’s been tested 3 times since joining the UFC 2 months ago.
The fighters with money take stuff with crazy short half Life’s at low dose. Like as the testers
are Leaving they dose. Izzy is passing tests. Is this even a question if the top guys are still using?

The question is not if the guys are still using. The question is are they beating USADA or does USADA give a pass to some stars.

Thinking the same. Not enough time to cycle off before coming to UFC
It’s a contest between the testers and the juicers always. A heavy testing environment favors the elite cheat teams (like Lance’s US Postal Team) over the average cheaters.

I have always felt part of the process must include to re-test some of the fighters old samples from three four years ago. I am sure you will be able to pick up some of the designer drugs the guys used to use, but stopped because it became detectable.
its all about who you know. You might have a lot of money but without the connections you can get the top grade stuff and a guide to cheat the system. Of course it requires money though

In MMA, they don’t make that much compared to other major sports and I assume it would cost a few mil to beat high level testing. Unless the testing is really that high level to begin with.
Do you think their is someone else that is covering the costs for them?
My best guess is that they detect most of the anabolic stuff but not EPO and HGH.
But who is really qualified to give an answer here. It's all guesswork
If I had to bet money I’d say bio identical test suspension, hgh and epo are heavily used and very hard to fail for. None of those 3 will make you fail a drug test unless you get caught cruising outside of a natural range and the upper limits of these ranges are a level basically no one ever has in their life.
Calhoon -Are fighters able to beat USADA or is USADA letting guys slip through or both?
at this moment, i don't think they are testing, since Covid-19 is out of control.

This is how I feel. I do not think that a majority of fighters are using. They lack the resources. I suspect that a majority of ELITE UFC FIGHTERS are using. But, I also think that a significant number are not.

Agreed on the money part. Like Gannon said, you have to look very closely at the big teams, especially transformations when fighters on the downside of their careers went to a super team and became super human.
Also look at managers and backers and anyone that would have a financial stake in a prospect fighter.
If pro grappling is lousy with PED abuse, it would stand to reason that MMA is as bad, if not worse.
Tomkores' idea of holding a sample and retesting years later would yield results that would shock the average fan.
The Olympics are more of a chemistry competition than an athletic one.
Being that MMA is a relatively new sport, there has never been a non-juiced version of it. Fans of sports with longer histories can point to dramatic changes, but MMA fans believe shit like guys can improve upon their physical attributes in their mid 30s because that's how it's always been within MMA. That's absolutely insane.
In baseball, during the so called "Steroid era", there were only a few pitchers who could hit 100mph, now every team has a couple. 15 years ago, Billy Wagner was the only guy in the league to throw 10 balls 100 or more, now there's like 50 guys doing that. Guys add 3mph to their fastballs over a winter. Cy Young award winners in their 30s add velocity. It's ridiculous, and they're being tested, but they're still cheating.
“Tomkores’ idea of holding a sample and retesting years later would yield results that would shock the average fan.”
I never heard that idea. Super interesting.
FWIW, I don’t think USAWrestling had a steroid habit for most of my life. But, I think most of the top guys are juicing now. Why else would so many spend time at the Treigning Lab? Does anyone really believe David Taylor put on 20 pounds of pure muscle naturally?
