Are the rules for UFC, Strikeforce, and Dream =?

Do these three promotions have the same rules?

If they are different what are the differences?

 Hi KKM

Can't spell out 'equal'?

=?

Strikeforce and the UFC have the same rules, but Dream does not. Dream allows knees on the ground, but doesn't allow elbows on the ground.

Japanese promotions don't use the unified rules we use in the 'States.

Except Strikeforce doesn't allow elbows, which the UFC does.

^ That

thank you

This... shame on all of you who gave legitimate answers...

There's a rule- no serious answers for the first 3 pages!

Strikeforce= no elbows on the ground, standing elbows are allowed.

that's how bobby got cut vs. babalu

"Promotions" don't have rules. Promotions are governed by the rules set forth by the authority in whatever state/region they ar promoting in or whatever 3rd party sanctioning organization they may be utilizing.

That being said.... UFC only promotes in regions/states where the US unified rules are in place. When they promote shows outside that area (for example Ireland, UK, etc..) they take the licensed refs and officials from the states and utilize the unified rules of USA.

That's not totally true. The CSAC uses the unified rules, where elbows on the ground are legal. However, Strikeforce still disallows elbows on the ground when they hold shows in California.

Some states allow promotions to use their own rules PROVIDED they afford a similar level of safety as the rules that jurisdiction generally uses.

Some ACs will allow amendments, yes, as long as it is not less restrictive... for example, an organization probably would not be very successful in petitioning an amendment to allow soccer kicks...

IFL used 4 minute rounds and also disallowed elbows.
