Are we entering the Klitscho phase of MMA?

In boxing we used to have dozens of characters and superstars, Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield etc etc. Nowadays....nada in Boxing besides Mayweather. Seems similar to MMA, hardly any name fighters anymore. Lots of talent, no names. No more Silvas, Fedors, or Crocops.

I dont know about names but Jones, Cain, Weidman, Barao, Rousey, Pettis and mighty mouse have been smashing people.

The only point fighting champ I see is Aldo.

I'm afraid so :( Phone Post 3.0

Every champ from LW and up are great to watch and have a slew of sick contenders to challenge them. They have no charisma however so that sucks.

Tebow For President - It's entering it's first really major transition. Majority of these guys don't have any charisma what so ever. Only two that keep me interested are Weidman and Rousey.
The two worst ones.. Phone Post 3.0

he means as in fighting safe and point-fighting and no big-name terrors smashing people. Surely you can see that?
No, just a lack of characters and stars created by the promoters Phone Post 3.0

Those names mentioned were fighting 15+ years. Fans have watched them for so long fronvthe early days of MMA which is why they are such big names. Not fair to hold less experienced fighters to the same standard since the sport gas grown dramatically and had a newer influx of fighters. Give the new crop time to build the same name value instead of blaming it on fights ans zuffa cuts.

And i always find it interesting that people complain about lack of finishes but turn around and hate on fighters like Jon Jones because of his personality. He has a high finishing rate and exciting fights but reality is ypu guys care about the prsonality and drama over the actual fights more than you think. Phone Post 3.0

Bones might come across like a drama queen outside of tge cage sometimes. But there is nothing boring about him at all.

Cain, JDS, Big Country, Hunto, Stipe, Barnett, Browne, Werdum

Bones, Gus, Glover, Rashad, DC, Hendo, Shogun, Davis

Weidman, Machida, Moose, Jacare, Kennedy, Bisbing, Costa,

Hendricks, Lawler, Condit, Shields, Woodly

Pettis, Cowboy, Gil, Nate, Diego,

Aldo, Cub, Mendes, KZ

Barao, Faber

MM, Benevidez, Uncle Creepy

Ronda & Meisha

The whole 115lb womens division!!

No sir. There is no stars in the UFC. Let alone in the other promotions. Phone Post 3.0

And also promoters dont create stars. They create themselves. You cant just feature a guy a lot and expecr that to put him over. Theres no formula to it. You dont think promoters want stars? If they could make them then they would happily do it and have a hundred mayweathers and brocks, but they cant which is why there's only one of those guys.

Look at professional wrestling for examples. For every Rock there are a hundred washouts. They didnt create him, he was around for years and just figured out a character tgat worked for him and the fans responded to. Same with stone cold and goldberg. Vince wishes he could create stars like that and has tried for decades. It doesnt work. Phone Post 3.0

It is the UFCs cut policy that is contributing to the boring fighting. If people knew they could go out have a war lose and still have job security many more would fight this way. In addition, Champs like Weidman get almost no publicity. They should have short videos of him training and such during PPVs where he isnt featured. That would get people more interested. IT also didnt help that he wasnt on any major card prior to his first Silva win. Its basic marketing of a fighter.

Yes, today's UFC is much different than yesterday's MMA, and not for the better Phone Post 3.0

i dont think he was only talking about champions; OP didnt mention champs. He's taking generally

I think it was a fair assumption that he was referring to champions since he only mentioned champion boxers, and said superstars. How many superstars do we have in MMA that were never champions?

No I do not see that at all! You cannot compare what Wlad Klitschko does in boxing to anything in mma. Also why is it always the Klitschko's not just one or the other? I happen to think Vitali is/was an exciting HW Phone Post 3.0
