Are we heading for another world war?

It seems a lot of these uprisings and revolutions over the last few years are a sort of reshuffling of allegiances or a "line in the sand" being drawn between US/ the west, Russia, and China.

Anyone else noticed this? Phone Post 3.0

Nobody really wants to be friends with Russia and China.

No I wouldnt characterize it as that.  I think the revolutions are a backlash against corruption and subjugation.

I think the more interesting thing is when will Americans realize that these nations are not looking for democracy per se; they are not looking to be more like the US - they are looking for freedom from oppression.  When will Americans realize that they themselves are the victims of this same corruption and that they have no freedom of democracy themselves.

Then what?  Do they have the strength to do what the ukranians are doing?  Or are they too fat, stupid, and lazy to take their country back?

I dont think we would see nukes.  I see no reason why a conflict between hegemons wouldnt mimic the cold war - that is proxy conflicts all over the place.  We are already seeing that to a small degree.

The whole Ukrainian uprising, actually, is a battle between a faction that wants to be more like the U.S. and Western Europe (& join the EU), against a pro-Russian (hostile to the West) faction that has just been ousted.

I don't necessarily see how an ideological battle hyped up via U.S. media networks even closely resembles the struggles we have seen during the Arab Spring... & I'm not so sure the Ukrainian issue is all that relevant to what we've seen in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, etc.

The problem in Ukraine is ethnic. There are ethnic Russians in the east, ethnic Ukrainians in the west. They have different languages, churches, history, etc.

Currently I see the biggest threat being China attacking Japan.

Nope not at all, OP.

My ukranian friend tells me the same.

It's more of an ethnic thing than it is a political thing.

I think the similarity is in the motivations of the people who have seen what has been accomplished in the middle east against tremendous odds.  I think that the inspirations and realizations for these movements are quite similar, even if the dynamics themselves are not.

Depends on what country we fuck with. Some little third world country won't nuke us. But if we get into it with China or Russia no doubt they would show us their nukes."

I see your point but I dont agree for the same reason Russia did not nuke the US during the 1980s and for the same reason China would not - Mutual Assured Destruction Theory.  There would be no winners

People who say it won't happen sound like Churchill's opposition.

So you're saying WW3 in the next ten years, fahker? 7 years? 5,4,3,2,1?

In the context of the revolutions, I think it's the case of the world getting smaller

And with that more and more people begin to realize what they have vs what they don't have and them finally deciding to do something

In a sense it's a global awakening of sorts. Phone Post

The only war I see is people vs. their government. This same anti-government protest activity also happened in EU and Iceland. People are waking up, taking to the streets and demanding corruption end.
