I think you have a point, but I think the “sensationalist” part of his interviews is just his personality bleeding through. As we mentioned he is a pro wrestling fan at heart so he loves the drama, and MMA was an organic evolution for him. If you listen to him talk about the sport or analyze a fighter, it’s clear he knows his shit, and he’s super passionate about it. You can’t fake that. I think being an MMA journalist just gives him the exact platform he was looking for and since he is a fan, it works out perfectly for him. As you mentioned he wasn’t the first MMA journalist but he was the first to help catapult it into the mainstream, always pushing for it to be more popular and accepted.
He does get annoying sometimes and his interviews are long and at times monotonous, so I consume his content in doses. But as an MMA journalist, he’s one of the best there is.

Edit: never mind, I forgot the people who make it are Canadian, from the Nova Scotia region I believe, so I’m sure it’s pretty accurate. Plus it is a parallel to American trailer park culture

Except it’s not sy-fy, but magic fiction wrapped into pseudo-scientific terms, also boring as fuck with no plot, nothing happening the entire novel. It most likely won awards for the anti-chink propaganda and because the author is a minority.
