Ariel, Why try so hard to make it an issue?

Good interview.  Thanks

the next person that catches chael in a sub needs to fuckin break that shit no questions asked...what weight is palhares have him rip chaels leg off

You cannot tap to that move. Either let it pop or go to sleep.

2 min to become champ and you piss it away because you refuse to understand BJJ.

Unreal

Sonnen deserved to have his arm broken after the stupid shit he has pulled

Rosenthal stepped in, calling the fight...but inexplicably didn't move to break the hold...which was poor performance on his part...since Rosenthal isn't breaking the hold....you can see Anderson grab with the other hand, lean back and crank the hold on the arm and let out a yell.... Silva knew that Josh had called off the fight and was trying to injure Chael... whether you think that is a good or bad thing depends on who you were cheering for...

K-Dub-"T" -  Sounds like Ariel need to fucking train ....

This. And as is it does seem Ariel was biased with absolutely no mention of Sonnen's past fake-tap controversies.

VybzKartel - ariel helwani is so so over rated.

and he does this snitch shit a lot.

he is a zuffa reporter, who is afraid to ask tough questions because he doesn't want to lose his credentials

Sorry but thats just wrong on him being afraid to ask the tough questions.

1 case in point would be him being the only reporter with the balls to ask Chael about the Lance Armstrong comments at the press conference.

I actually think he gets a bit of a pass with regards to asking the tough questions because Dana and the Zuffa guys like him.

He was definitely trying to lead Dana into saying Anderson did something wrong there holding the submission. I'd say whose post-fight interviews you watch is a free choice, but it seems like UFC is now only allowing Ariel and their staff to cover their shows backstage. Thankfully there are usually more options for Strikeforce events

ariel, you little mermaid, don't make this non-issue into an issue.

WidespreadPanic - Holding onto the wrist to maintain a modicum of control while the ref makes up his freakin' mind is not the same as holding on and cranking the sub.

 Exactly.

 merman, imo.

This forum nut hangs for this MMA TMZ shit.

This should be at the top of every thread on the UG.

 This is completely untrue.

Chael was avoiding all of Anderson's attempts and sweeps the entire time. You can't be that great a dominating positions if you don't have an understanding of  BJJ. Not at THAT level.

He was even doing the correct escape. The difference maker was simply him having his palm up instead of his palm down, which would've avoided the armlock.

See, Chael, like most human beings, lost because he made a mistake. A tiny, yet critical one. Not because he's ignorant or stupid. Everyone gets caught, especially in BJJ. EVERYONE.

By your claim, Marcelo must not understand armlocks either, after getting caught in a Kimura by Jacare.

C'mon now (and no, I'm not saying Chael is Marcelo Garcia either).

Anderson did the right thing.

In this instance Ariel is way wrong for firstly putting words into Dana's mouth and seconding jumping to conclusions with an incorrect assumption.

Although Dana didn't do a great job of stating that Anderson did the right thing.

The kid is still learning his craft and he made a mistake.

Chael is going to end up getting hurt with this half tap, I didn't tap after the fact BS.

People are not going to want to let go, and it's hard to blame them.

I agree, weak move from Ariel.

+1 WidespreadPanic

Granpa - WTF is Ariel talking about. It's clear Anderson layed off the triangle when the ref came, that's how Chael was able to pop his head out. If he was holding on like Ariel says, Chael would've been out. Doesn't take long for a triangle to put a guy to sleep.

Does Filho still train with Anderson?
