How soon we forget the great Fedor is coming off a LOSS in Sambo, one must assume there's some rust and he might let some of that frustration boil over tonight and abandon his game plan. It would be ill-advised for Fedor to strike with a master striker just to look robust after that embarrassing loss in his own country.
What can Fedor do?
Well my friends, let me propose that he take it to the ground like a bat out of hell, but even there he will have a treasure trove of complications.....
In 1999, Andrei won the European Youth Sambo Championship and the World Youth Championship. Not long after, Andrei became the first Master of Sports, and then International Master of Sports. He also took a silver medal at the Sambo World Cup and another silver medal at the World Sambo Championship.
OK?
You mother fuckers get my point now?
This fight won't be the one sided beat down the sheeple here declare it will be, Fedor will be fighting for his life, his country and the hope and dreams of Affliction, this alone may not be sufficient. There's a 75% chance Fedor could forfeit his legendary status tonight.
Get your tissues ready bro )-:
Let's also not forget that Arlovski looked like a white belt when Roy Nelson had him on his back, and that sport sambo is not MMA...
sport sambo != combat sambo
sifu michael - Let's also not forget that Arlovski looked like a white belt when Roy Nelson had him on his back, and that sport sambo is not MMA...
Roy is not a novice, he has 4 Submissions wins on his record, plus the guy weighs a ton. Arlovski couldn't move so he remained inactive, conserved his energy and waited for the fight to get stood up. Smart game plan via The Pit Bull imo.
ha, crispy bacon
You just don't know what you're talking about. You're leaps in logic are too spread out. You're saying that because Arlovski won Sambo competition TEN YEARS AGO that he can compete with the holder of MULTIPLE Golds in Sambo?Fedor admits that his loss was due to a lack of preparation for Sambo in order to prepare for the Arlovski fight. Also, Fedor might have "lost" but he still took Bronze, not exactly losing. Your logic is that because Fedor has ONE loss in Sambo in the last 5 years he will lose to a man who hasn't competed in Sambo in over a decade?Am I right? Is that your argument?Cause... if that's it...No.

No.
Fedor lost at Combat Sambo, the weaker stepchild of Sambo. He has no business losing at Combat Sambo. Ever.
You're serious?
This is seriously your argument?
This is it? Cause if this is it I am going to stop posting.
Do you have some thing besides trying to tie Fedors BRONZE Medal in Sambo to Arlovski beating Fedor tonight in MMA?
Any thing?
Give me one example where Arlovski has used sambo in a fight. He never uses that shit and he never trains in it anymore so people need to stop bringing it up in an argument as to why he will win. Especially when Fedor trains sambo all the time and still competes.
HEY MAN DON'T CALL ME MOTHERFUCKER AND DON'T CALL ME BRO
BRO
Don't call me 'Man' pal...
Also let's not forget he trained w/ Dino Costeas (A BB under Rickson) for yrs.
I think Andrei is a very well rounded fighter. Not to mention the best athlete Fedor has faced in a while. I'm looking forward to seeing how Fedor deals w/ that athleticism.
I do however, believe Fedor is waayyyy quicker to transitions/scrambles. Whether those transitions are on the ground or standing, or even Standing to ground, Fedor hurts AA. That's where he'll wear AA down.
I believe Fedor will TKO AA due to strikes while AA is on HIS BACK.

It's pretty tough to differentiate where he's used "Sambo in a fight".
I think the real issue is ground proficiency, and Andre has absolutely shown that in MMA, recently and throughout his career. He took the ballsy move of dropping for an Achilles against Sylvia and submitting him, he showed good control (and use of the fence) against Brink when he subbed him, and same with PeDePano except he GnP'd him with his good reversal of position.
Of course, the first counter-argument is that Big Country fucking schooled him on the ground, but BC is a bad motherfucker who has a solid pure BJJ record including a win over Frank Mir.
I do think that the ground is where Fedor has the biggest advantage though, even considering AA's jaw.
I can't wait for tonight so these stupid threads can finally stop being made.
Rest assured that these kinds of threads will be replaced with an equally brainless onslaught.
Arlovski won youth sambo competitions.
The guy Fedor lost to in combat sambo also happens to be a currently active international level judoka for his country.

I think Fedor will win. He just shouldn't have lost at Combat Sambo.
