I know there have been quite a few threads about Arlovski vs Liddell which is laughable at best but I just re-watched UFC-56 again and saw Arlovski standing in between Liddell and Tito and he is a MONSTER. Dwarfs both Tito and Liddell.
Ps. To all the Chuck riders...yes, he's good... No, he would not live through the first 10 seconds against Arlovski.
The pure, size, speed and physical ability of Arlovski is enough for most opponents, but even further down the line then that Arlovski has the heart and the want to keep the title longer then ANY HW title holder in UFC history.
Chuck Liddell is the man! GREAT fighter..But your talking about ANDREI ARLOVSKI...
Chuck Liddell got TOOLED by Rampage in the standup area....Even COuture beat Chuck standing up...So to answer ALL this garbage about Arlovski not having a chin and Liddell being able to beat Arlovski...WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU SMOKING ON..?
Arlovski is:
Bigger. (WAY too big for Chuck.)
Faster. (WAY too fast for Chuck)
Stronger. (Chuck doesn't have a prayer.)
Better Standup. (Lightyears ahead of CHuck)
Better ground game.
ANDREI ARLOVSKI is better at every aspect of the game and Chuck Liddell would not get out of the 10 second mark agaimst Arlovski.
I give Chuck a punchers chance, but that's out of respect.
Arlovski is...well, he's the HW champ, and Gary I don't think Cro-Cop would beat Arlovski, especially in a cage. Ring, possibly but not in a cage. Fedor would give Arlovski the biggest test of his young MMA career and no doubt show him why his nickname is 'The Russian Experiment'. Ah, the world of hypothetical math-ups.
I think it's easy to forget how big AA is. When you watch him fight, he's fast, agile and has great cardio. These are things that you just don't normally see in someone that's 6'5" and 250 (approx).
I always have to remind myself of how huge he is when I watch him fight.
oswfighter...as always you have some good points to back up your statements. However, the Chuck Liddell that fought Rampage and Randy Couture (1st Fight) is not the same Chuck Liddell of today. That would be like saying the Arlovski that got beaten by Pedro Rizzo would lose to Chuck. Randy Couture's huge slam/takedown in round 1 of their first fight had probably had something to do with Randy winning in stand up. Look what happened when he tried to trade with Chuck in their second fight. Since Chuck knocked out Tito and Randy, his confidence level has risen considerably and so has his effectiveness. Chuck Liddell is on fire!!! Arlovski might beat Chuck due to his size, but Chuck would land that big Kempo right hand on Arlovski's chin and Arlovski would get a real test. Chuck has enough horsepower to KO Arlovski and seems to hit everyone he fights these days with that right hand. I don't know how Arlovski's chin is, I know Chuck has a great chin. Chuck has been in with much better opponents than Arlovski and fought in tougher wars.
Just out of curiousity, how do you think Arlovski would do against Couture or Tito Ortiz. I'm pretty sure you think Arlovski would win, but do you think it would be competitive or a one sided beating?
Chuck has fought some very tough opponents throughout his career and I give Chuck the edge due experience and committment. AA is on fire, but Chuck likes where he's at.
Arlovski excels at dominating his opponents for one great reason: he moves around. He doesn't sit still and get hit, he developes a high paced rythm and just keeps moving in and out of the pocket, that's a great boxing quality. Couple that with the fact that he has a bullet for a right hand (remember Buentello?) I think you have a guy that outweighs Chuck by 40 pounds and has better stand up.
If Arlovski could take Chuck down, I don't doubt for a moment that a submission would not be far away.
Don't think Mir would smoke Liddell by any means. For one thing, Mir better come in better cardio shape to stay with Liddell than he has in the past. Mir would then have to take Liddell down, good luck. Chuck is too good on his feet now.
