One of my students is in the Army reserves and some of his buddies wanted me to come up and show some stuff in a few weekends. Anyway, the other day he told me that his CO told him that I am welcome, but he took a 1 week Army grappiling/hand to hand course and he is "lookng forward" to having me up becaue he can collar choke ANYONE. (with fatigues)I am planning to go up and help out the guys. They said I can fire some live rounds as payment. As for the CO I will still be very polite and hope that he does not try to test his luck.
Halz, I wouldn't worry about the CO testing you. He's not likely to set himself up to look bad in front of his troops.
I am a total professional and I would never be disrespectful to someone.
Good to see you're going to help. Perhaps you can dress as a ninja to teach their CO a lesson?
No, he meant it. No big deal, when you have never been exposed to higher levels of experience, it is easy to think you are pretty good. When i first started "submission wrestling" was fresh out of college wrestling and I could beat everyone in class except for Travis Fulton and Mark Jaquith. The I moved to Crystal Lake Ill. and a 145 pound kid named Jeff Curran kicked my ass up and down the floor and I realized that there was more out there than just in Waterloo Iowa.
I've "played" with a couple of the local reservists. They THOUGHT they were b-a-d, until they found that they couldn't escape my mount, my cross side, my guard, or any of my submissions.........
:-)
There is still a huge difference between a "weekend warrior" learning unarmed techniques, and someone who trains those techniques on a regular basis.
