For the rematch Ben better ask about some testing because he was getting ragdolled out there.
The "Sapo was gassed" and "asken pulled guard" nonsense come from CRE who was desperately trying to convince people who had not seen the fight that something different was inevitably going to happen than the one sided fight that did happen in the 2.5 minutes before the eye gouge (which I do think was inadvertent).
I would like to see a rematch
Hate420 - Not sure where you guys get this "Sapo was gassed" nonsense.
I actually am the one who thought sapo took a big deep breath. Let me rewatch, and I'll try to get a time for you.
Well, obviously Ben was not doing very well. Was Sapo getting worn down? Who knows?
I hope they get a rematch. It's a shame it ended the way that it did.

Yeah. To be clear, I'm not trying to say anything definitive. Just my take on the fight.
While it's possible, nothing in the actual fight itself suggested Ben was going to win it...
Regardless of who ended up winning we saw very clearly if you can defend his take downs and maintain his cardio you win. Plenty of fighters in the top 30 in the ufc have better sprawls than sapo. That's enough right there to say he probably can't beat them. He beds to just sign with the ufc. Even if it's a paycut the ufc needs to pay better but this protest isn't helping anyone.
.
I'm pretty sure Askren has had an identical strategy for every fight he has ever fought; throw hands if necessary to close the distance, establish top position, hands and knees to bait the choke or ride out decision.
Sapo will get a rematch, if nothing else due to having as semi interesting opponent with a back story.
Wiggum is one of the most consistently rational posters on here. Great thread.
Sappy was sucking wind big time. Also, good luck passing a random drug test bud. But on the other hand, based on what little we saw, I dont see any improvement in Askren's stand up.
