ATT Statement Regarding Kalib Starnes

There has been a lot of talk about Kalib’s relationship with ATT since his fight in Montreal. There have also been comments attributed to our head coach, Ricardo Liborio about Kalib’s future. We would like to set the record straight on this matter.

Obviously there were a lot of people disappointed in Kalib’s performance, including fans, UFC personnel, our team and Kalib himself. We respect the opinions of MMA fans and believe that, most of the time, criticism of fighters from fans and media comes when it is deserved.

Having said that, ATT takes tremendous pride in creating an environment where our members are treated with loyalty and respect. It is no coincidence that “ATT Family” is a common tattoo on many of our coaches and fighters. Expelling a fighter following a poor performance would not be consistent with this philosophy.

Ricardo Liborio did in fact address our fighters following a recent training session regarding what it takes to represent ATT as a professional fighter. The essence of his statements (which were obviously meant to be private) was that ATT sets high standards for its members and it is not possible to reach those standards unless a fighter dedicates himself to the program 100% and participates in all team training sessions. He stressed that anyone deviating from that mandate will not be allowed to train with or represent ATT in the future. Kalib’s preparation for this fight was used by Liborio as an example of what he does and does not expect of his fighters in the future.

We did not intend for this meeting to become public knowledge and regret that there was an inference of Kalib’s dismissal from our team. We believe that Liborio’s address, coupled with Kalib telling some friends he was contemplating retirement, fueled this speculation.

American Top Team

classy

he brought it on himself

 ttt

so wait did he or did he not get kicked out?

He didn't get kicked out...but sounds like he got reprimanded for his performance.

It does leave ATT's relationship with Starnes a little vague, but it should be handled as a private matter. Nice post

Calling your opponents cornerman a "fag" is the epitome of a man.

Krondawg -

imo i think Ricardo Liborio used Kalib as an example of what it takes to be in ATT. apparently he did not meet the preperation standard what liborio expected. the meeting was supposed to be private but one or two of ATT members "inferred" it to an outside source.

kalib = cut

I thought it said that he wasn't cut.  Maybe I read it wrong...

ATT has integrity.

mugatu - ATT has integrity.

 Agreed.

Thanks for posting.

thanks for posting

I'm glad that ATT is sticking by their fighter...shows true character.

ttt fo lata

poor starnes

he has raw talent even though he ran

the guy would do good in smaller shows, building his skills

i was made sick by his running performance. however he had some good points about the money and maybe a broken foot. if he produces the broken foot medical, how could anyone fault him?

even his team deserts him. ATT should be ashamed. a team is like your brothers. to clip a guy who injured himself is detestable

if he lied about the foot then by all means boot him. however if ATT just jumped on that hate bandwagon against a brother, that is gross

cre, please stfu nd quit making rumors faggie.

Yes you could fault him with the broken foot b/c Rich Franklin fought with a broken foot and hand against Loiseau which he broke in the 2nd and still proceeded to tool him for another 3 rounds.

Krondawg -  we still don't know if he got kicked or not. they took him off the site. statemnt was vague.

Dude, reading comprehension:

"Having said that, ATT takes tremendous pride in creating an environment where our members are treated with loyalty and respect...Expelling a fighter following a poor performance would not be consistent with this philosophy."

Translation: ATT is a family, so it wouldn't be appropriate for them to cut a guy after one bad showing. I doubt ATT is making this statement in order to announce that they're a bunch of hypocrites, so this clearly means that they did not cut him.

"We did not intend for this meeting to become public knowledge and regret that there was an inference of Kalib’s dismissal from our team. We believe that Liborio’s address, coupled with Kalib telling some friends he was contemplating retirement, fueled this speculation."

Translation: ATT is sorry that a rumour got out about Kalib being dismissed. The address Liborio gave to the team and some things that Kalib said about retiring, are probably the reason that this rumour (read: not accurate) got out.

The statement isn't vague at all.

Good post.

Glad to get an idea of whats going on from someone who actually KNOWS whats going on.
