Eddie,
I really like your book. I just need to work on my flexibility to attempt your rubber guard stuff. I really love your concepts and this book is like the written program to your Twister video.

From the Old School, how do you counter the crossface or ezekiel choke (No-Gi variation).

Thanks,

Mat

I'm more interested in hearing how he deals with the Darce choke (AKA Shaolin, Brabo, whatever) which has been having a good run of turning underhooks from half guard against the bottom man.

ttt

The key to avoiding the cross face, the darce, the brabo etc. is to stay
super tight with the under hooks.

Your head should be pressed as tight as possible against your
opponent's chest, squeezing the under hooks as hard as possible.

As soon as you let up the squeezing, or release your head from your
opponent's chest, he has the opportunity to manipulate your neck.

If you end up getting caught in a darce attempt, keep your neck
straight up, don't allow him to bend your neck down into your chest.

Thanks Eddie.

What the heck is the Darce?

The Darce is aka the Brabo choke...seems like everyone is doin it, and seems like a lot of people are tapping to it. lol

I think i saw an example of it on Alexanre Soca's clip at fightlife.com

The darce from in the half guard that is

Just looked up the clip, that's the move! I was first shown the Darce from when a guy is turtled up, but it's essentially the same technique from a different starting position.

Also with the Brabo defense make sure you don't let your opponent bring your arm that is underhooking him across your face, becuase if that happens then your definitly screwed.

Do you all train with Laimon, or are a lot more people calling it the Darce?
