Signing away the rights to your image and likeness for all of eternity (3 years at a time) is never a good idea.
Just a warning in case it comes up in negotiations.
You should become a manager.

lol I dont even know that it's true that fighters have signed away rights to their likeness with a perpetually renewing clause on ZUFFA's side.
But if it is, some UFC fighters should have had a visit with Captain Obvious before they signed their UFC contracts.
most UFC fighters just want to sign and make money and try to be famous. Look for the quick buck first then realize later that they got jewed
lol@the OP being named TUF
What's funny about being THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER?

Do you want to be a fucking action figure?
This is the general rule with any contract in any pro sport.

ZING!
yeah..the UFC is terrible to all their fighters, and nobody makes any money with those guys...it's amazing that anyone wants to fight for the UFC.
Thanks for the warning, I almost signed with them.
Rappy Gilmore - Captain Obvious to save the day -It's obviously not too obvious to lots of young fighters.
If signing it means they get 6 figures or more when all the incomes added up I'm sure it's not too big of a problem. Shoot I'd probably sign something like it for less than that.

So you think the Merchandising Rights Agreement, in the standard form presented for signature, is a good deal Rick?
FERA BRABA - This is the general rule with any contract in any pro sport.
What is the general rule? To NEVER sign away the rights to your image and likeness FOREVER (or as long as ZUFFA wants) even after you stop fighting for the organization?
Or are you saying that the general rule is that sports organizations will retain merchandise rights of you forever, even after you've retired?
From Macedawgg's blog:
“The Merchandise Rights shall be ZUFFA’s sole property in perpetuity throughout the world, which ZUFFA shall hold free and clear from any and all claims of Fighter or anyone claiming through Fighter.”

You would be a bad businessman. Take into consideration the profit you could make based on your own merchandising rights. You get famous, you get paid, you dont get to make any other money off of your likenesss, ever. Oh, wait, I forgot the 10% or 20% of gross revenues ZUFFA will pay you.
That would make sense if the ONLY way you could become famous in MMA and make any money off of yourself were to work with the UFC. With other shows coming up and the interest growing you'd be a straight fool to sign away rights to merchandising yourself in any way, forever.
Rappy, mind if I change my nickname to Captain Not So Obvious?
