ATTN: Green namers. Who Won?

Watching the main event last night, I thought Forrest clearly won the fight. It was far from a beatdown but I thought Forrest easily did enough to win that fight(I have a pretty subjective opinion as it did'nt really matter who won to me.)

I logged on here this morning expecting a lot of people to be eating some humble pie but instead found 50 threads saying Rampage won or that it was a draw or that Forrest didn't deserve the belt.

I wouldn't mind seeing some green namer opinions on this. Was I completely off in thinking Forrest was a clear cut winner of is it just that the Forrest/TUF hate on here is so strong people are only seeing what they want to see? Which is Forrest losing a fight he in fact won.

I am not a green namer but have judged for 2 different promotions.I had Forrest winning the fight.

ttt for green names dropping in

Thanks for the input guys. Keep it coming.

dunno. some close rounds, and usually unless you win the round outright, they give it to the champ.

round 1 - rampage

round 2 - forrest (not a 10-8)

round 3 - rampage (close)

round 4 - rampage (close)

round 5 - forrest

Thats how I scored it. I think an argument could be made for either guy in round 3, 4 and 5.

P.S. - I was chearing for forrest

Forrest won clearly...The only noteable thing rampage had was that one knockdown. Rampage couldn't escape the mount..Almost lost due to leg kicks (was hurt bad)...and Page was almost submitted. Page also did some running away that I think loses you points.
Clear win by Forrest but Forrest clearly has some stuff to work on...ie his left leg kick/switch kick is awful and he needs to learn to throw simple combos that include a leg kick. A 1-2-3 rightleck kick probably would have won the fight.

Forrest won IMO

I had Forrest winning 3 rounds to 2.

kidpresentable - round 1 - rampage

round 2 - forrest (not a 10-8)

round 3 - rampage (close)

round 4 - rampage (close)

round 5 - forrest

 Exactly how I saw it.

griffin in a good fight

I woulda been ok with a draw rampage retains and an immediate rematch in georgia

forrests state

I don't think either of them won "clearly"

Round 2 definitley went to Forrest

1, 3, 4,5, pick 'em

Nick: how do you give the fourth to Rampage when he almost got triangled?

I wasn't surprised, so to speak, with Forrest getting the decision, but I thought Rampage won a close title retention. What bugged me was a 49-46 score to Forrest. It should've been 48-47 at best if not the other way. It was for a title. So it goes with the decisions though, right?

If rd 2 was a 10-8 for Forrest than rd 1 was 10-8 to Rampage, simple (but I don't think either one was).

I scored it like Nick and a couple of the websites.

Except for the leg kick Forrest landed very little and Rampage landed a lot.

I didn't see any true submission threat in the second (that triangle later on was better but Rampage slammed out) or any solid striking from top. Forrest was being smart and keeping the position but only attempting things that would allow him to continue on top. In other words, nothing super solid or dangerous, it just looked pretty bad for Rampage with all the forearm rubbing in his face... Forrest should've thrown that rear Thai kick all day even if it got predictable. He hurt Rampage with it. Rampage should've fired down the middle more when the kick came. He would've caught Forrest even more and possibly curbed his enthusiasm a bit.

Anyway, it was an entertaining fight and not anything like the Bisping/Hamill robbery in broad daylight on Main St.

Haulport, I think a near submission only goes to ring control unless it does damage. Thus, the near triangle was no more important than Rampage's takedown or the slam out of the triangle.

The triangle wasn't very close. As soon as he put it on, Rampage stood up and escaped. In any case, it would count toward effective grappling, and as most of the round was standing, effective striking would be the more heavily weighted criteria for the round.

Forrest, slightly very close

Rampage said Forrest whupped his ass in the post fight interview, which is pretty definitive.

agreed... close rds you gotta give to the champ.

travenbjj - How was that a slam out of a triangle?

okay, then the triangle was no more important than Rampage's takedown or escape out of the triangle.
