Anyone has audio of Dustins corner between rounds?
terrible cornerman after 2 questioning his effort
MMA cornering is so far behind boxing it is crazy. Some off the highest level fighters in the world and you hear their corners giving absolutely no technical advice at all it's shocking.Â
On the first takedown attempt by Khabib, they yelled "elbows", Poirier looked back as if to clarify and boom, Khabib took him down. Downhill from there.
"I can't get that motherfucker off me"

You're right about that.
There's a lot of bro law taking place in mma...
touch -"I can't get that motherfucker off me"
I caught that too. Although I thought it was: “I can’t fucking get him off me.”
I was sad to hear him say "there's no space out there"
he said it twice in desperation, he looked confounded like shit between the 1st and 2nd…I knew it was over then
What could they have said tho? Khabib is THAT good, isn't he?Â
?
Did they not bring in wrestlers for his camp? Is Khabib the best wrestler on the planet? I'd assume no - so it starts earlier than the fight.Â
He needed to be beat up wrestling for 5 months before this fight, every day, by better wrestlers - and learning how to counter (or try to counter) everything Khabib did. Then in the corner they should have been reinforcing all of what he had been doing in drills in camp, for months.Â

Always fascinates me.
Terrible cornering esp for a championship.
Also, mother fuck your thread title.Â
I wont vote you down. But fuck you.Â

i was waiting for specific technical advice
i hate when they start rattling off with 1000 different things to do

Thank you for that, I couldn't hear it while watching.... that is pretty shitty, I always assumed mike brown was really good at that stuff

Agreed. I love my coach to death, but lately he's been putting himself on the spot when coaching solo, most recently at a PFL event. The commentators caught on quickly. They said something along the lines of "Umm... So what exactly is _________'s corner saying? He keeps telling ________ the obvious but not giving him any actual advice".
And then Yves Edwards said "Yeah, this is really bad from the corner".
This is what coach kept telling our guy "You gotta get up bro. You can't stay there bro, you gotta get up" as our guy was getting mauled with 30 seconds left after losing all rounds. And in between rounds all he kept saying was "You can't let him take you down". He's a great trainer, but it seems like he always freezes in fights when it's just him cornering without the wrestling and or boxing coach.
To your point, our boxing trainer is a fucking genius. He even figures out kickboxers and MT fighters during fights. When he and our head coach corner together it's a different ball game.

Why do people think you can train a dicipline for a couple of months and beat someone who has been training their whole life.
Not to mention Khabib is naturally bigger and has a lifetime worth's of elite grappling strength.

Additionally Khabib very well might be the best in the world at using his upper and lower body at the same time in grappling situations.
