Austin Aztex Redesign
I have been living in central Texas for quite a while now and have come to enjoy the area and its sports organizations. One being the Austin Aztex as a huge fan of soccer it made sense. I have though always had an issue with the logo and general team theme and design. Today I decided to rebrand the entire team. Here is what I have for you!

Austin the Capitol of Texas, the weird city as it were. Everyone here insists on ‘keeping it weird’ but the city also has tons of tradition and as with the aztex it retains much of that. With the move from the Aztez to Austin FC, the changes will be to modernize the brand while retaining some of the history, especially in the color.
A key part of the logo is the star brought over from the old logo here:

As one can tell its less concise and to the point and to some maybe that is the point. To me, it lacked the forward thinking and melding of modern and tradition of Austin in all its weirdness. The colors remain the same because they are an incredibly unique combination that honestly relays the message of ‘modernized tradition’ quite well. The move was to cleaner lines and more bold shapes with the same message.
This would be Austin’s first MLS squad and with that a new MLS logo!

As with the all new MLS badges, they are unique to each team and here we have Austin FC’s new badge. Every team tries to separate themselves a little bit with the bottom end of the crest. This is a perfect time for Austin to represent the Lonestar state and its capital with the Lonestar itself derived from the logo itself.
Now with any new logo we need a new home kit don’t we? Of course!
So with MLS being tied to Adidas I took some time to play with color combinations/patterns on the kits. Mostly about how to easily embolden the colors and logo for the premier season but to also separate them from the pack. Now a relatively simple kit, its the accents that bring together the kit.

As many will be able to tell, this is a poor mans version of what Diego Guevara did over at http://diegoguevara.com/blog/2014/10/07/latest-project-miami-mls-team-2/ and what a masterful and beautiful job he did. I was inspired by him and thought I would make this. Obviously not the same level but I hope you enjoy it and the little journey.

Burt Reynoldz -I think they call them as a whole (jersey, shorts, sox) as the kit. I should have just said jersey but maybe they do just cask them kits. It's become a habit.
