b4 GSP, Hughes needed 2 months off

I am not saying he would have won, but i just thought he needed a few
months off after the Penn fight to let his body and mind rest and get
revived...

I thought Hughes was ballsy for taking two HUGE fights
so close to each other (in today's fight world,
anyway), but I don't think any amount of rest would've
prepared him for what Georges had in store last
weekend.

^^^^ you are probably right; however i would love for hughes to now take
6 months off and then come back for one last fight against GSP...

.. he will still be the underdog, but i think that would give him the best
shot mentally and physically to do something against St. Pierre...

I'd like to see a third match as well, but I see
this one going sort of like Chuck-Randy III. GSP
lights up Hughes a little bit, Hughes gets a takedown
and makes it competitive for a round, and then GSP
avoids the takedown for the (short) remainder of the
fight and quickly ends it with another knockout.
Matt is the greatest welterweight in this sport's
short history, and can probably beat every other
WW from #3 on down. But GSP is the best of the new
breed, and if he's healthy and well-trained, very
few fighters at 170 (and this weight class is
stacked) have a shot at him.

"Looking at Franklin's first fight back I was
wondering if GSP would be suffering from ring rust."

Hard to tell if Rich was rusty at all; Anderson
holds such an advantage over him standing up, and this
is where the fight took place. How Rich thought he
was going to bully Silva in the clinch is beyond me.
Rich's Muay Thai (and most others' in the division)
is "weekend warrior" compared to Silva's. Had the
fight gone longer, maybe we could've been able to
tell, but Rich could've been at the absolute peak of
his game and Silva would've crushed him in the clinch
just like he did a month or so ago.
