Thought you guys might like this. Its backstage at Shooto Brazil and I think it really gives a behind the scenes look at mindset/nerves before a fight. I posted it in the OG but it will most likely get passed over there.
To give some perspective to both HOC - NO COMMENT TV videos. The first is at Shooto Brazil after a horrible weight cut that meant Hacran could hardly walk the day of the fight due to "bloating in his abdomin and legs" hence the very nervous backstage warm up.
The fight went very well - I've posted it here too.
I told this story before but the day of the fight Hacran's community of Santo Amaro were invaded by BOPE forces searching for traffickers. Hacran had to run down the hill when he heard this to check on his wife and was thrown against the wall by BOPE troops with high calibre machine guns. Anyhow - after some time they recognised him as the fighter that had helped their cadets get ready for their fights and that Hacran was also fighting at their HQ.
This fight was the second to last before getting signed to the UFC. The second video is from th social project and was filmed the day after the fight and after Hacran had just taken the kids class. He is still clearly quite sore and havig difficulty moving but I like the understanding he has with his brother Polengue Dias - they flow well. This is something that's very hard to get sparring partners to do correctly - I remember training MMA and even when the drill was to flow egos would always mean it was rare to find a sparring partner who understood the benefits of letting you place a sub on, tap and then move.
My fovorite image from the shoot is actually just that bit at about 1minute 10secs in with Hacran and Marlon side by side, Marlon looks like someone not to fuck with as he instructs Hacran on gameplan. If you are wearing headphones you get a sense of whats taking place in the background. One of the BOPE troops is fighting and the BOPE cadets are making a hell of a lot of noise as their guy sinks an RNC in. The noise is intimidating even for Hacran who they will be supporting seeing as he is fighting an American. The clip ends in the vid and cuts to another but in the raw video the noise becomes so deafening Hacran starts laughing. I just like it as an image as it shows Marlons support for Hacran and gives an idea of how intimidating it is to fight at the BOPE HQ. I tried to reach out to Uriah Faber who was there in Eddie's corner to get his perspective but got no response - would be interesting to know what he thought of it all

There is a lot more on the project on the following links including videos and lots of additional information, quotes and stories etc - and it could really do with the support - its hit a bit of a lull but it really is a fantastic project with a great social project at its heart one that is genuinely saving the lives of many children through the sports we love.
