For the second time in history, the Japanese Shooto will organize a dispute for the belt outside of Japan and the stage selected is Brazil.

The Light heavyweight champion of the organization (83kg), Siyar "Afgan Killa" Bahadurzada, will defend his belt against Leandro "Batata" Silva of Nova Uniao in the fist semester of September in Shooto Brazil 13. The information was confirmed by the organizers of Shooto Brazil and Shooto Holland, respectively Andre Pederneiras and Martijn De Jong.

Silva, a champion of Fury FC, was seen fighting last in M-1 Challenge 15 - Brazil against Dmitry Samoilov, in that match he beat the Russian by unanimous decision. Bahadurzada has had an irregular situation since capturing the vacant belt of the association in 2007, accumulating a record of 2-2 in his last four fights.

At first glance there is a doubt in why Silva is the challenger and not the holder fo the belt in Shooto Brazil, Andre "Chatuba" Santos. But the fact is that the Nova União athlete acted and won in Japan against a ranked fighter, Masashi Yozen in 2007, and this made him the number one challenger of the World title.

The event is still without a defined official location, the options being to hold it in Ceará or in Rio de Janeiro.

In the first and only time that a dispute took place outside of Japanese territory - the champion of the time, Masanori Suda, knocked out Egan Inoue in 27 seconds of the first round in Hawaii, 2003.

Awesome fight for Shooto.  Love both those guys at 185, both will be in a big show at some point.

That has always been a great trivia question:

"Name the only Shooto World Title fight that took place outside of Japan."

Guess that no longer will be a valid question.
