Baret Yoshida is a BOSS

During EBI 2 this past Friday Baret subbed his first 2 opponents via RNC to make it to the Semis... He's world class, so not surprising. But then I realized he was competing in the 155 division! Baret walks around at <145 and could easily cut to make the 135 division!!

Much respect.

i got mad hespek for Mr. Yoshida

Is there any other way to walk around? Phone Post 3.0

Baret is a beast.  He will always go for a sub regardless of points.  Win or lose he is true to the martial art of Jiujitsu.

I did a seminar with him in japan.

Free as well. He tapped us all with his choke from the crucifix.

You forgot to mention that not only was he giving up ten pounds, but he was also giving up at least ten years. Barret was born in 1975.

I'm only a few years older than him and my body was crippled from sitting in those chairs for six hours; Nevermind competing at that level. The maddest of props go out to Baret. So much respect.

By the way, his guard is literally impassable.

Baret is the man. YDFL Phone Post 3.0

baret has been the man for a very long time. !!!

His old no gi series with his high guard setups changed the way I thought about the guard in MMA and submission grappling from defensive to offensive. I still watch them at least once a year. (I think they were offered by jkd guy Burton Richardson's website. Any old guys remember if this was correct?) Phone Post 3.0

You are correct sir, I still have those as well. Burton also helped with a book/DVD combo that Baret did in Japan, I think it's it's available through Budovideos (at least it used to be). It features a bit more of Baret's modern game as well as his old school guard game, though it doesn't include any of his devastating crucifix game, unfortunately. Phone Post 3.0
