Listening to this interview, he is asked directly and doesn't at all deny it. He also doesn't discount the possibility of fighting Angle in April.
I'm sure he recieved pressure from a Japanese company to make a Japanese Legend look good. The Japanese don't want to see Yoshida repeatedly creamed.
The guy lost to the colossus right off, and it took Barnett 3 rounds? He carried him...
dont want to listen to Carson's Corner but according to his post fight on Sherdog he says he was more interested in making it a "Catch vs. Judo" thing.
so didnt throw as many strikes normally.
Like I say, he certainly didn't deny it in that interview. Sure seems highly possible, if not likely.
Here's my car, by the way:
Cro Cop didn't carry him, thats for sure.
why do you have a duel blower?
This definitely crossed my mind while watching this fight.
i thought it was pretty obvious he was looking to end the fight via submission.
Yoshida is a joke.
True.
I said when the fight was announced Barnett would carry him for exactly three rounds. They wanted to give the audience their money and, most importantly, make sure the planned Yoshida versus Gracie (Roger) match wouldnt lose its luster.
Japan is often not on the up and up. The lines of sport and entertainment are blurred.
CroCop didn't carry Yoshida, but I think he INTENDED to. His low kicks hurt Yoshida more than he thought it would IMO. I say that because you can see when Yoshida just falls to his back, CroCop looks kind of confused for a bit. Then follows him straight to the ground and intentionally puts himself inside Yoshida's guard.
I think he had an agreement to go to the ground with Yoshida at least once during the fight. But when it looked like Yoshida was fading quickly, CC just jumps straight into his fallen guard even though he certainly didn't need to.
"dont want to listen to Carson's Corner but according to his post fight on Sherdog he says he was more interested in making it a "Catch vs. Judo"
Funny, looks like BJJ vs Judo to me, Catch-W is VERY limited in moves.
Barnett is a great catch practitioner.
"Well considering how much he outweighs Yoshida by..."
Yoshida (108.7 kg / 239.6 lbs) vs. Josh Barnett (113.2 kg / 249.6 lbs)
"dont want to listen to Carson's Corner but according to his post fight on Sherdog he says he was more interested in making it a "Catch vs. Judo" thing."
Sounds like an excuse to turn the fight into a grappling match.
imho
