BARNETT WOULD DOMINATE WHY NO BARNETT???

Ufc bought strikforce dude is on a 9 fight win streak so Dana beef aside we need him in the ufc!!!!

Yeah he is good, but he tested positive for steroids three times, resulting in the death of a promotion, the loss of his UFC title etc etc.  I don't think someone like that is good for the sport, i mean come on, i can understand twice maybe, but THREE times.  The guy ruined his reputation big time, and its all his fault.

 Wait, What?

Barnett will settle this heavyweight business, if they let him. I think as much as the roids, its his mouth that gets him in trouble

 Wait, What?

Good striking
iron chin
good wrestling
world class ground game
very smart

...

Not really sure how he'd give JDS much problem. JDS has proven extraordinarily hard to take down and even harder to keep down. On the feet, he is better than Barnett with more power, and has NEVER been seen to be hurt by a punch.

barnett would beat lesner, mir, carwin, hands down JDS Overroid and cain definatly same level...

wait did you just refer to Overeem as Overroid in a sentence about Josh Barnett?

Barnett might be at best HW. I have no idea about J2S' sub defense, but he seems hard to take down and pops up like the Undertaker when taken down. That's a great matchup, but the fight starts on the feet and 2 Saints has a clear advantage. I still think that Lesnar has a chance and Overeem might as well if Junior gets too cocky.

Exactly, the hypothetical fight would go down like his bouts with Cro Cop did. I doubt that Josh has anything for Junior.

I_Heart_Guidos - Everyone forgets that mirko was his kryptonite. Jds has the striking and tdd to follow that lead.

Josh preys on strikers with no ground game. Wait til he faces someone he can't bully, like Cormier Cain or Brock.

The only decent ground guy he's faced in five years is monson.

His hype train will be derailed.

Good points.

Fact: Josh Barnett has what it takes to beat any heavyweight in the UFC.

Don't forget that in their second fight, Barnett couldn't take or keep Nog down, and got beat up standing.

Victor Parlati - Fact: Josh Barnett has what it takes to beat any heavyweight in the UFC.

Fact: He has not demonstrated that he can outwrestle the top guys in the UFC, who are either superior wrestlers, or have stellar takedown defense.

Fact: He has not demonstrated he could beat any of them standing. Shot Rizzo does not demonstrate this.

Josh is a very good fighter, but his last big win was what?

Vs. Nog in 06?

We need to see how he does vs. Cormier to be sure about him.

Josh lost the second Nog fight because he got dominated by Nog's standup - which set up Nog's ground game (not that Nog subbed him - but he did what he had to do to get the decision)...

but since that fight Barnett's striking game has gotten MUCH better.

Put that together with his chin and his catch wrestling skills...and yeah - he'll probabaly beat anybody in the UFC heavyweight division at this point.

I don't remember the second fight spending any time on the ground. Josh couldn't take Nog down and couldn't beat him standing.

How do you know Josh's striking has gotten "MUCH better" since then? Other than a shot Rizzo, who has he stood with for more than 5 seconds since that fight?

Couldn't take down Nog, couldn't take down Crocop...but he's going to take down Cain and Carwin and JDS etc?

Cool2010's assessment up there is accurate, but I don't see Josh being good enough at wrestling or standup or off his back to beat the best in the UFC.

Josh Barnett is the best and most well rounded heavyweight of all time!!!
