Bas has a school in Westlake CA ?

After listening to Sherdog's Beatdown radio show, Bas said he has opened a gym in Westlake? Is that Westlake CA in Ventura County? I live very close to that and haven't heard a thing about it...or is it another Westlake?

Thanks in advance for the one w/ the answers!

in 10 minutes this is already on the second page???

guess I should've posted about Ken vs. Tito or Bruce Lee Vs. Rickson.

I'd have 100 posts by now!!!

Westlake is some ghetto ass city in LA. There's a Westlake Village in Ventura County though. I'd think it would be the latter lcoation though. In that Bas Goes Wild dvd they goto some steak house that was in Simi and that happens ot be in Ventura as well.

TTT for 91362

Elite MMA in Thousand Oaks is probably what you are referring to. All the IFL fighters and coaches were brought in there a few weeks back for a photo shoot.

Holy CRAP!!!

I had NO IDEA that club was here. Must not have done any promos for a grand opening.

Any UGers train there?

WTF I've posted tons of times "any MMA/BJJ in Ventura county?"

Not once did anyone mention this place, fuck you all

Elgringo

You and Me BOTH brother!!! Countless threads w/ little to no response!

Simi has a place called Kid Gloves. Has a cage. Their focus is boxing but mma is thrown in too. Never been there though.

1031 literally LOL on that one!! Very true, very true hahahaha

Darth Ive been to Kid Gloves a few times, I was actually in that cage this past monday lol

what's the class and instructors like?

are you a regualr member? what does it cost (and include?) ?

Looks like Elite MMA is offering about 50% off if you sign up before May.

Been to KG in Simi and was not impressed. The one in TO looks promising if only to get the opportunity to roll with some pros. Wonder what the fee is and how many days you can train.

email them and they will give you a class schedule and a price if you ask for it.

but it sounds like you better act quick to save 50% off the monthly fee

I've never been to KG. What didn't you like about it?

DarthChoke,

The instruction there is good. There are no BJJ black belts or world champion wrestlers, but plenty of tough guys that are more than willing to throw down with you in a cage.

The BJJ class is taught by a very competant grappler. Like I said, he is no Mundials black belt champ, but he is more than qualified enough to teach BJJ to beginners and novices. I'd say he is a good technical purple belt (not sure what his actual rank is, Im just estimating from rolling with him).

The gym is really good in terms of stand up training. They have a pro boxer, lots of pro muy thai guys and lots of really really good amatuer boxers. The gym has produced plenty of serious stand up fighters. I'd say the level of striking there is much higher than the grappling.

They have a ring, a cage, open grappling mat space, 25+ heavybags, weights and cardio equipment.

The rates are cheap and I joined so I have a close place to go if I don't feel like making the drive to Hollywood to train.
