Bas must now realize Kimbo's limitations.

So easy to take down. No hip movement from the ground. A year of intense training should teach you some of these basics like sprawling and hip movement. Kimbo will remain a one-dimensional fighter and Bas now knows it.

to the leever.

Bas is one of the most knowledgable people in the game. I'm sure he knew his limits before seeing them in the ring. He's just working with what he's got.

Im convinced with his work ethic he will be fine. He will take some losses and improve with each. This is a sport that he is taking seriously and in my opinion making pretty good strides for being so early in his carreer.

Wasnt he trying to get a guillotine while Thompson was in side control? You learn that you cant get that shit on the first day of BJJ. Maybe all he trains is stand up.

TheLurKing - its his third fight....

exactly

Kimbo has no foundation in the fighting arts outside of backyard tough man contests. Unlike many of the more experienced MMA fighters, in his younger years he didn't receive any formal training in boxing, wrestling, judo, muy thai, or any other martial art that enhances fighting ability. He's in his 30's and to think he is going to be competitive against younger and more experienced MMA's is just naive. He has only had one year of formal MMA training and has done well for himself but he will never be capable of beating mid to high level fighters.

It's his third fight, but he's in the main event. Thats the problem. Shaw and company are trying to market their entire promotion around a guy without legitimate skills or experience and it resulted in the debacle we all witnessed last night.

It's not about getting a gullitine.  It's about preventing the guy from establishing a good position.  Holding his head is one more thing for the guy to worry about before he can establish perfect side control and then start setting up subs and strikes.

Or, in your white belt world, should you just let go so now the guy has perfect side control?

lol at this statement.....hold on to my head as I pass your guard and I guarantee you  will go to sleep......

3rd fight.

 von flue choke

bas said they drilled toins of escapes from the bottom and the closed guard guillotine but kimbo didnt use em

Kimbo needs to go train with the Avellan brothers for a year or so...

Bas knows his limitations better than anyone - he watches his grappling every single day in gym.

his grappling is EXACTLY what you would expect out of a guy with a year and half of grappling. anyone who didn't expect this simply doesn't understand the game.

It's not like Kimbo is going to get much better either. The guy's already 35.

He was able to reverse a larger man more than once last night... that's a good sign for a brawler still young in the sport.

His main objective is obviously to use his hard punches to win fights. So his main concern with grappling is gonna be defending the takedown and standing back up from his back. He didn't so much get the former down to a science, but he looks like he can do fairly well at getting up from his back and reversing to top position.

It'll be interesting to see him grow as a fighter in the next few years, especially after he loses a fight.

Have you ever been to a grappling class in your life?
