What's the logic behind when a pitcher throws at the next batter after he has given up a HR or 2? I understand if you show someone up, you will get beamed but why the I just gave up a HR beam? I don't get it. 
Sometimes it is to get the hitters to back off the plate a little, and sometimes it is to put a little doubt in the head of hitters. 
Have you ever had anyone throw a baseball at your head, and then have to dig back in and stand in the same spot while he throws another one toward you?
It is uncomfortable. That is the point, to make the guy uncomfortable. It is hard to hit a baseball when you don't feel good about standing where are.
