Battleborn- legit?

My patna got it. We played a lil tonight. I'm digging it. Beasting w mushroom head. Cool new take on some PvP and unique pve as well. Escorting minions and such. What's your take on it? Phone Post 3.0

Very legit. Loving it so far. Don't have the patience for full on MOBAs but really enjoy the action + strategy.

I picked it up yesterday.

- Mushroomhead (Miko) is fucking awesome; I love being a healer.

- Damn, this is harder than I thought! I failed the 4 out of 5 story missions when playing with other people. (Haven't tried solo yet.) Fortunately, you still get experience and gear, even from failed missions.

- Visual freaking overload. There were a few times I felt like I was on the verge of a seizure.

- Hey! A sense of humor! It's not Borderlands hilarious, but I definitely laughed quite a few times.

I liked it. I'm still trying to figure out the overall system of leveling, credits, gear, and unlocking stuff, but the action is fast and furious.

I thought Battleborn was pvp only?

No. You can play story mode solo or co-op. I was playing with random matchmaking last night. Hopefully, I can find some steady PS friends to play with, as that's always better.

There are a bunch of PvP options, but I'm mostly a PvE kind of guy.

I think Overwatch has more of a PvP focus.

Agree on all points.

The commentary definitely had some funny stuff going on.

I also died a few times but it isn't overwhelming.

Just trying different characters out, only a few unlocked atm. Phone Post 3.0

Its a cool game for sure.

However I put it down for a minute to try the Overwatch beta and honestly I'm impressed. Solid gameplay with tons of chars.

A lot of fun.

I've been addicted to Battleborn. It's fun but man, team game play is really essential. I feel like a lot of people are bringing a Call of Duty attitude to the game where they just want kills, and don't feel a team win/loss means anything as long as they personally do good.

It's a different game that requires a different mentality. Getting kills is good, but not getting killed is MORE important than getting a kill. You get killed then you give the enemy team a good chunk of experience and you are out of action and can't help against a push. I've seen several games where my team won or lost because someone would repeatedly run in and die repeatedly, allowing the team to be a full 2-3 levels higher than the other team on average.

The other thing ppl don't seem to get is the game is not Team Deathmatch. Killing the waves of bots is more important than killing enemy heroes. One of the guys I play with acted like he was the king shit with his 14 kills, but only had 16 Bot kills. I only had 4 kills but over 140 Bot kills and he acted like that didn't matter. Blows my mind.

I just can't get ppl to understand either of those points.

But yeah, I love this game and have a lot of fun. Oscar Mike is my go-to. I can play a mean Rath as well. I'm getting the hang of Thorn, but it's hard to hit enemy heroes that aren't big guys like Toby, Montana, Kleese, etc. I've been trying Phoebe and Galilea a bit, because those two seem like they have the potential to be the absolute best but also come with the highest skill requirement. I just can't seem to get Galilea. She seems like an unkillable beast when I'm playing against her but i can't seem to figure her out.

So true. Biggest thing I've learned is run back to the healing stations whenever you can and don't accept dying because your health is low. Killing minions will up your level super quickly especially if you go for the high level ones that spawn periodically. Most frustrating thing to me is when your team picks no support character and you end up dying way too often because no one is healing. Also building as many turrets or bots is huge in controlling the map, and collecting as many shards as possible. Kills are probably the least important aspect, other than not getting killed by an enemy. Phone Post 3.0
Just in case you didn't know, you can recall back to the base for an instant full heal. A lot of ppl don't know this. If I just need a quick top-off on health I'll go to a heal station but if I'm below half health I usually just recall. The added bonus is that you can do a shard run while running from base to getting back into the action.

And yeah, it definitely sucks that more ppl don't play heals or support but I really can't blame them because I hate playing healer too. If the other team has a tank+healer combo and your team doesn't, it's almost a guaranteed victory for them. Occasionally I'll play Miko because I hate losing but I don't like playing Miko, lol.

I'll add you on Xbox. My GT is the same as my name here. I work this weekend but I'll be playing Monday and Tuesday, then next Friday and Saturday. Phone Post 3.0

I'm a big PVE guy so I'm hesitant on battleborn. Is there's lots of PVE and is there gear to loot that you strap on your character to upgrade him? Phone Post 3.0

^ Not really.
Yes, there is gear but it's stuff you pay to use during a match.

One big difference between Battleborn and other games I've been playing is that your characters don't grow over time. You start every mission as a level one scrub and eventfully level up to ten by the end of the mission. At level ten, you are totally kick-ass, no doubt. But, when you start the next match, you're level one again and you power up as the mission goes on.

This is kind of cool, because you can pick your skills to suit the mission you're playing at the moment. But, it also means that the time you invest in playing pays off in more characters, not individual characters improving. There's no real "grinding" to be done. You never get to the point where a mission is easier simply because you're leveled up. Unfortunately, evolving to "OP as fuck" is not an option. Phone Post 3.0

Exactly that's what makes it intriguing to me.

Having superior tactics, knowing how to run a character without hurting the team, cooperation, how well you know the Battleborn your facing (strengths, weaknesses) etc. are what makes you OP in this game.

I've been looking for a solid crew to play with on Xbox, if anyone sees me online invite me to a game.
