Funaki Masakatsu #1 -
Funaki Masakatsu #1 -  This was a gigantic win for Maurice Smith and really a landmark win for strikers in MMA. This was really the first time a high end striker beat a high end grappler.

To correct myself: in NHB, anyway. Rutten beat Suzuki in Pancrase in 1994.

The first time in NHB on a big stage.

Vovchanchyn and Pele had done before

Vovchanchyn KO'd Lima (Gracie Black Belt) in 95 and Pele KO'd Vieira and Macaco right around the same time as Smith, Silviera

That kick made a big impression on people following NHB.

Man, the sweet memories!!

This one is still up, and still legendary!

Thanks again for this one Pro Ice.

Legendary.

thats the ref that started the trend of early stoppages

The famed Golden Driller!

These Extreme shows were better than what the UFC was putting on. Perretti was a real innovator and arguably the first to promote MMA shows as sporting events and not spectacles.

I still have this VHS. Amazing event! Historical MMA! :) Phone Post
