Well damn.
I'd put watching this off for years as I had it in my head it was a low budget star trek rip off.
Finally finished marathoning the 4 main series.
Wow.
What an incredible show. I knew I'd underestimated it when Caprice Six snapped the baby's neck in the pilot. It was dark, funny, sad, intelligent, thrilling at various times. Great mix of action, Sci fi political drama, fantasy with a rich story and mythology that had relatively solid closure (if a little inconsistent in the end)
Can anyone bump the discussion threads that were on here (if there were any still acessible)
The only show that wifie and I watched twice in its entirety.
Frackin' toasters. And Adama. Oh man, Adama
Saul Tigh is one of the best written character arcs on tv.
In the first season I was worried he was a bit of a caricature but the way his story pans out is incredible
One of my favorites.
My favorite show of all time. I swear the name just sounds "nerdy" to people and they never give it a chance. I have not met anyone who gave it a shot and didnt get obsessed and watch it to the end.
edit: ah you finished it already sorry did not read correctly.
You didn't think the ending sucked?
Seriously I thought most of the show was a really fun ride.
But in the last series they introduce ever more twists and turns and you kind of think wow how are the script writers going to resolve all this amazing stuff at the end, and then at the end you realize they can't cos they making up random shit on the fly without a fucking clue where they were going with it. Sooo disappointing.
My advice to anyone that has not seen it is enjoy the first couple of seasons to the max, and if you have to watch the rest keep your expectations low to minimise the disappointment.
Marcus Agrippa - edit: ah you finished it already sorry did not read correctly.No. I am not a fan of open endings. I liked the closure it gave. Given endings are almost always flops in these types of show I thought they did a decent job

My only complaint would be that the constellations supposedly lined up when they found Earth 1 - given it was not our Earth it was a continuity error. That was the only internally inconsistent part I felt.
Having watched it all the way through I view it as a fantasy show rather than Sci if though. Makes the suspension of belief that civilisation is cyclical ending in a modern Anglo salon Western civilisation every time
I would like to have seen a better exploration of Kara though. It seemed like the writers were leading towards her being the child of Daniel the artistic seventh Colin but never fully went there.

Lol Cylon not Colin. That would be a shit unitimidating race of warrior robots - the Colins
I did not get any fucking closure from that ending I just felt ripped off.
However each unto his own I guess.
Marcus Agrippa - Seriously I thought most of the show was a really fun ride.Have to disagree. Watching it fresh I think they did a great job of knitting the mythology together. Compare it to Lost where they literally were making it up as they go and gave the worst ending in the history of TV

btw if we are including spoilers maybe include a warning.
Personally I don't consider telling people the ending sucks a spoiler as such, more a warning, apologies if people disagree.
If the lost ending was worse than this then please periodically remind me never to watch that show.
It is a worrying new trend in TV actually. The script writers feel under so much pressure to make each and every episode a bigger ratings hit than the last that the plot becomes unresolvable in it's ridiculousness.
Game of Thrones has been an example where this did not happen because at least GRRM has got a rough idea where it is going so imposes a bit of discipline on the writers.
Lost and BSG seem to be the worst examples of this problem.
Breaking Bad was an unusual exception that somehow mostly held itself together.
Ah it's a show that finished nearly seven years ago. Spoilers abound across the internet. I purposefully avoided any online discussion or reviews until I had watched it all the way through

With unquestionably the worst final season and ending in TV history.

If you didn't like the BSG ending you will stab your TV after watching Lost

If the thing that was making it good was making an ever more ludicrous rating inflation driven plot that can't be resolved at the end I would rather not bother.
I actually did watch an episode and a half a while back being exceptionally bored, but I guess it did not do it for me.
"If you didn't like the BSG ending you will stab your TV after watching Lost"
I will go with your warning and not watch it and keep my eyesight.
So, All Along the Watchtower was actually written by a Cylon and not Bob Dylan? Or is Bob Dylan the last Cylon?
seg - So, All Along the Watchtower was actually written by a Cylon and not Bob Dylan? Or is Bob Dylan the last Cylon? We're all part Cylon too.
Even Jimi.
