Becoming an Amateur Fighter?

So I decided I really want to take my fandom of MMA to the next level and want to actually have the goal of being in an amateur fight in at least 9 months to 18 months. And curious whats a good start and what I should do to get ready

Right now I got decent grappling from the gym i used to go to but havent gone in awhile because Im sure it was McDojo but did learn enough to hang in there with former high school wrestlers in NoGi. And I am about to join the Crossfit on my street to get more explosivness and strength.

I admit I am lost on the actual steps into becoming a fighter or the proper training to do inside and outside the gym and looking forward to get the UG's help on it.

I of course will give any reasonable information to help with all this to help get better advice.

Thanks in advance Phone Post

You'd get more out of an underground fight club.

You should probably pursue boxing instead, considering your lack of question writing skills.

First, find out if you actually love fighting. You're going to get punched in the face.  Then, find a good gym with a good coach and a good team. The rest will work itself out.

You need good local coaching, and to work with a MMA team. If you've seen any of the local MMA cards that you want to fight on and were impressed with a fighter, check out where they train.

Hm good point. I will develop the question asking skills and slowly build my way to a more diverse combat sport. Good advice Phone Post

I'm assuming you only have a HS education or GED?  Typically, MMA'ers have college degrees, so perhaps you should go to college and then start training?!?!

This week, you have a homework assignment. You're gonna go out, you're gonna start a fight with a total stranger... You're gonna start a fight and you're gonna lose.

Love it Phone Post
