The ratings for the third Bellator show on Spike TV have been returned, and while the numbers are down slightly, the promotion still reached highs in one particularly strong category.
Industry sources confirmed to MMAWeekly.com that Bellator 87 averaged 705,000 viewers over the two hour broadcast on Thursday night.
The re-broadcast at 12 midnight pulled in additional 323,000 viewers, with the totals for both shows at 1.028 million viewers
Now the 705,000 viewer mark is down from the first and second shows on Spike TV, but overall not a dramatic drop considering this card featured no title fights and also had a late change to the main event when lightweight Patricky “Pitbull” Freire was forced out of his scheduled bout.
One mark that bodes well for Bellator are the ratings in the coveted 18-34 male demographic where the reached a .6 rating, which is the highest for the promotion since moving to Spike TV three weeks ago.
Overall through 3 shows on Spike TV, Bellator has averages 858,000 viewers thus fa
I think it was .3 last show, nice improvement
Like I said before, I think this season ratings are not as make ot break as the fans want to believe, once the reality show starts and the true promotion of Bellator begins than the ratings will matter, right now its just about putting on good fights every week and trying to build some names that people will want to watch again
Hopefully this helps Eddie out somehow
Anything is an improvement from what they were doing on MTV2.
Totally equal to FOX......
Good argument Bellator lawyer Guy....
This is good for mma

Wait so they havent really started promoting Bellator yet?
LOL, give me a break. They've been promoting the shit out of Bellator the last month, we are seeing what they can do.
It appears 700-800k is what Bellator can do week to week, good numbers, not anything crazy, nothing that is gonna challenge the UFC but its def good enough to be number 2.
Bunch of no names on that card.
chandler seems to be their biggest draw

YOu cant count that first card, its just like the first FOx card, the amount of push they had, the big kickoff is always gonna be higher than what they will really do on average.
Chandler vs Jansen/Held on Spike will tell you what kind of draw Chandler is, a kickoff that had weeks to promote, first time on Spike, two title fights you cant really count that.
If his next fight does a million viewers then you can say he is teh biggest draw they have.
Actually Curran/Pitbull was the peak in that show because it was the first fight on that show so technically he would be the biggest draw.
I don't have much to add other than
Chris27-I appreciate the threads you make and knowledge shared or just your speculation. You and I butted heads at one time and you were wrong, but I forget about what, but it's moot now, cuz you've shown you're quality poster on here.
1st show: 940k
2nd show: 820k
third show: 705k
That looks like a nose dive to me. when will the numbers stop dropping? TNA pulled roughly 1.6 million viewers.
it looks like the numbers will settle below 650k and that will not be good.
in adults 18 to 49 they went from 0.4 (premiere) to 0.3 (last week) to a 0.2 or less this week.
the tuf replay on fox pulled 1.179 million viewers at 11pm on saturday night.
You can't compare running commercials to an entire season of a weekly reality show for promotion
The UFC lived off TUF, without it they don't succeed, no comparison
Who the fuck still uses day-of ratings in the DVR age? I can't remember the last time I watched a show the time it played. They should have special dvrs for people that want to be neilsen raters, or some other system.
How does it work?

advertisers dont give a crap about dvr numbers.
Interesting to see if having a title fight like next week has any effect
^ if the numbers go down again next week that would be 4 weeks in a row of viewership decline... and that's with a TNA lead in which is the best possible lead in you could get on spike.
if the numbers settle at around 650k with having the tna lead in they are in trouble.
It looks like they are debuting the reality show in the summer, so they'll go from the live event tournament to the reality show back to the live event tournament.
They usually do a summer series tournament also
If the numbers for Bellator are dropping, I must be in the minority.
I've never watched a full season, but I plan on it this season. I've watched every so but the most recent one and when I have time to watch it I will, probably tonight. I was on the UG during the event and there were many threads about Bellator. Sounds exciting and bloody. No spoilers please, I've done good thus far avoiding them.
