BELLATOR 95 DRAWS 901,000 VIEWERS IN SEASON 8 FINALE ON SPIKE TV

Bellator’s eighth-season finale drew 901,000 viewers for its Thursday-night broadcast on Spike TV, tying the promotion’s second-largest audience ever.

Only the Season 8 premiere, which netted 938,000 viewers, outperformed Bellator 95, which took place at Revel in Atlantic City, N.J., and saw Pat Curran swiftly submit Shahbulat Shamhalaev in the evening’s featherweight title headliner.

Sherdog.com confirmed the figure Friday with an industry source, who verified that the broadcast peaked with 1.05 million viewers between 10:30 and 10:45 p.m ET. The card also earned ratings of 0.7 and 0.64 in the male 18-49 and 18-34 demographics. An immediate replay of the program garnered an additional 328,000 viewers, resulting in a cumulative viewership of 1.23 million during the four-hour block.

In addition to Curran’s successful title defense, the televised portion of the card also saw two tournament winners crowned, as middleweight Doug Marshall knocked out Brett Cooper and featherweight Magomedrasul Khasbulaev outpointed Mike Richman. Immediately prior, former lightweight title contender Rick Hawn opened the broadcast with a second-round knockout of ex-UFC talent Karo Parisyan.

but nobody cares about Bellator - The UG

Good numbers, Curran is their biggest draw. They did 792k I think for the season average, thats about where I thought, 700-800k.

The reality show/summer series will be interesting for them, they will need to do bigger numbers in teh fall after the reality show.

TTT for Bellator.

Congrats Bellator and all the guys over there.

twas a good show. Doug Marshal scares me

Love me some Bellator.

Yep.

Invicta gets more coverage.

If you go by what you read here, Invicta is the bigger company drawing more money. Phone Post

Maybe fans on this site care more about Invicta than Bellator.

You cant make people care about something.

they are asking fans who wants to write articles covering Bellator.

So before it was Zuffa runs this site and they arent allowed to cover Bellator, whats the new excuse gonna be?

Invicta must just pay the UG to get the coverage.

Yeah if they actually have a shit they would just have Bellator Articles instead of asking member to write and submit stories that try may it may not out up. They can have like 7 Invicta articles every freaking week and nobody gives a shit.

WSOF and Bellator averaging 800k views every week should be getting top billing on this site with the exception of the UFC itself. A streaming promotion should get nothing... Since AXSTV promotions get nothing. Phone Post

Bellator last night had 651 comments and 17k views.

Invicta tonight had over 1000 comments and 35k views.

Yes they are on different nights but it isnt about paying for coverage, its clear the members of this site pay more attention to an Invicta show or WSOF show than a Bellator show.

part of that is the day/time they are on, also Bellator is weekly, INvicta/WSOF are on once every few months so it seems more special I guess.

They numbers dont lie, not just this site but all of them, junkie, BE, mmafighting, normal day to day Bellator news or previews, articles dont get the page views other orgs get for some reason.

Live events do solid numbers but regular day to day Bellator stuff doesnt generate interest online.

a season average of less than 800k isnt good enough.  the reality show will have to do big things.

Sid22 - I like the idea of bellator but i cant help feeling im watching a subpar product when i watch their shows..also I feel their fighters for the most part couldnt compete in the UFC...(of course their are exceptions, chandler,alvarez,curran..nut the guys they got in their tournies would get smoked in the UFC....I never got that feeling with strikeforce or even elite XC, I always felt their talent could compete vs UFC's...to a point obviously..

Stop it, Bellator has fighters that can compete in the UFC, Storm, Dantas, Chandler, ASkren and Curran would all be solid UFC contenders.

Plus they have good prospects and mid level guys who could def hang in the middle of UFC divs.

What do you think they do? It will run in the summer right? What night? What time?

Summer isnt the best time for shows but there wont be much to compete with in terms of sports, baseball is it. But the summer isnt a tv period because people are out in the summer and not staying home watching tv.

You have to figure a Wed night slot at 9 or 10pm is what they go for, following TNA from 10-11 could be best but they will have three events they need to run in the summer.

Maybe they try to put Bellator events in the summer on their own night to see how they do and give the reality show the Thurs 10pm slot to give it a push. If the live events dont do well on say Wed at 9pm they can go back to Thurs in teh fall. But the reality show is what they need to push, they need that TNA lead in to get good ratings for the show.

eventually I believe they want bellator to be able to carry it's own night... they cant continue to use the tna lead in to keep bellator afloat.  They have opportunity costs, other programming they need to develop, etc...

They initially talked of a 3 hour slot but realized bellator cant carry it's own night so they are now trying to build an audience so they can.  the problem is so far they havent been able to build the size of audience needed... if they moved bellator to another night they would barely pull 600k viewers which means it wouldnt last on primetime.

All they have left is the reality show.  if they cant get anything substantial going with that I believe they're in big trouble.

the reality show has to build an audience and that audience needs to funnel into the live events.  since the UFC has wednesday and saturday nights, wwe/nfl on mondays, nfl and nascar on sundays, tuesday nights is all that's left.

Bellator live events needs to be able to carry it's own night (tuesday nights) otherwise it's a failed project.  they need to be able to pull at least 1 million viewers consistently in a 2 or 3 hour block on tuesday nights otherwise it's a failed project.

the reality show will get the best possible slot in the summer with the tna lead in... so it has make something happen.

since it's a one hour slot it will be easier to keep more of the tna audience in the average.  800k like the live event average isnt a game changer... if the reality show can do over 1 million consistently they got something.
