Goldie, Spike TV - Bellator following the UFC playbook to the letter
Hell yeah Goldie and Smits
I like him so I hope he gets a job somewhere.
Morgz -Yeah, thats another problem with the new guy, sounds too similar to jimmy. Anik and florian had the same problem for me, it could be hard to tell which is talking during a fight.Nexuscrawlers -Morgz -Okay. Maybe sucks is a little harsh, but wheelock was great. He had experience reffing and judging in boxing too so he really knew his stuff.Nexuscrawlers -Bojack Horseman -Yeah, that guy who replaced wheelock sucksBuddyRevell -
Who does play-by-play for them now? That guy better start looking for a new gig.
jimmy and goldie would be much better. Smart move
I wouldn't go that far and say he sucks. But so far, IMO, he just isn't all that memorable. Not horrible, yet not awesome either.
To me, Goldie is memorable. So is Jimmy....and Rogan, and Mauro....hell even Bas and Quadros are memorable. But I just don't seem to remember the guy who replaced Wheelock
Yeah I'm kind of forgetting how much I liked Wheelock. He's memorable too. VERY unique voice, also
Steven McTowelie -jqvwxyz - He doesn't have some sort of no-compete clause? Like part of his severance package was that he couldn't commentate MMA for a year or two?He got fucking fired...lol at no compete clause.
'You're fired! And you can't get another job, please sign this non-compete before we kick your ass out the door.'
At MOST he got severance with a clause that it stopped if he got another job.
He didn't get fired. They just let his contract expire then acted like he never existed.
"And as always, I'm here with my partner Jimmy"
Bellator taking a book out of UFC 's chapter.
Hope it comes to fruition. Although we make fun of him at times the guys voice is synonymous with MMA at this point. Its not the same without him.
I would watch Bellator much more often if Goldie was there
Carogan -This is beautiful. The sound of a Bellator event is going to be very familiar to a lot of fans both hardcore or casual.
Can you imagine walking into a bar on a Saturday night asa casual fan and hearing the sound of Goldie chatting up the fighters and then you realize that the "UFC" is on...except that its not UFC. It sounds like the UFC, the action is like the UFC, the knockouts are just like the UFC...but wait, this is something called Bellator. "Who ever knew?!?"
This is going to be pure marketing genius. Bellator will attract alot of new eyeballs on the back of the UFC by doing this hire.
Hmm.. you made a point I didn't even consider yet. A good one too, Vu for you sir, and I agree, it really could be a genius move by Coker
Is everyone forgetting how shit he was?
People need to take the nostalgia glasses off. I'm a big fan of Goldie too and it was kinda shit he didn't get renewed and no proper sendoff...But there must have been a reason. Anyway, things change and people move on. Dana, Buffer, ring girls and Rogan will be gone not too long either.
Steven McTowelie -This. Loljqvwxyz - He doesn't have some sort of no-compete clause? Like part of his severance package was that he couldn't commentate MMA for a year or two?He got fucking fired...lol at no compete clause.

How long until he calls his new partner Joe? Do they pair him with someone named Joe to eliminate this issue?
I wondered how long it'd take before this happened
I will watch more Bellator events if this is true.
stickman - No disrespect to Goldie and I'm sure this isn't the most popular opinion but I actually like Bellator's commentary team now. I think Grande and Smith have a nice chemistry. No you're right.
Kind of hope Goldie finds some new adventure, outside of MMA. I always thought he could become a host/presenter for a sports show of some kind.
Smith and Grande are excellent.
And they are more polished.
Exciting for Bellator if they can nab him, he was a WWE prospect awhile back and still has a signature sound.
