what happens with an injury?
Why hold up this much star power?
If it were me id do each "round" on one card, until the final. Id also have the losers of the semi finals fight and the winner is the back up fighter, just incase.
Fighters can be parachuted into the tourney. The 1 fight per night idea is genius… There’s lots of room for backup and makeup fights.
Having said that, there’s something magical about one night 8 man tourneys.
There’s going to be people complaining no matter how they do it
PRIDE used to hold each round on each event a couple of months apart and have the losers fight each other for the most part. That is how it should be done imo. I see Bellator spreading it out to ge as many headline fights as possible though.
They need to have it wrapped it up by June 2018. They should be able to do it in 3 shows. LOL at year long tourny.
This is just like the old Bellator tourneys and the Strikeforce grand prix several years ago. I have a hard time seeing it as more than "static" matchmaking. Cool matchups but not tournament wise since they dont fight in one night which takes away much of the thrill for me.
Bellator is trying to capture ratings over a long period of time by sprinkling in a tournament fight along the way.
