Dennis Bermudez stopped by Submission Radio to discuss his plans to "crush" Clay Guida in their up coming fight at UFC on FOX.
This I got in it to fight mentality is why certain guys will never achieve the level of popularity of guys like McGreggor.
He understand the marketing and advertising of his product(himself) better than anyone and gets that training and fighting are only half of the equation.
That's the difference between companies throwing hundreds of thousands of dollars to you to sell their product and just having Rockos Smoke Shop on your fight shorts.
MMA and WWE aren't much different when it comes to the bottom line and that's being entertainment for fans scripted or real doesn't matter. More guys should Learn that
Haha... Funny thing is Dennis could definitely pull the same technique as mcgregor... Has a very interesting personality lol... You would never guess from the interviews... Super pumped to watch him fight!!! He used to train with all of us here in Harrisburg... WAR Bermudez!!!

It's because he s Irish.
If he wasn't being used to create a market he d prolly just be talking in a corner

I find it strange that people equate Connor's popularity with him running his mouth. People are attracted to his personality, his look, the way he carries himself and he is a pretty fucking solid fighter.
VitorpeepeetasteStrongTRT -It used to be Blackman mma... But has changed now to unrivaled athletics... Bunch of tough guys... We have Darrel Horcher, Dustin Pague, Aaron Bicking, and mark Krumrine who both post here btw... Dennis used to train with us awhile back before he movedJay Haas - Haha... I thought Max took two rounds against him. He should fight Mcregor. Conor needs a legit wrestling threat. Bermudez needs recognition. What better way to get it then by beating the UFCs newest star???
Dont be jealous, call him out

What's up Jay, I remember Blackman mma. I had a fight with Horcher and Steve Blackman from the WWE was there lol. I guess that's not news to you but it def surprised me lol. And now I see Dennis out by me with the guys from LI mma and Bellmore. Always fun to watch fight and a tough dude.

Dennis is really good.. I also had holloway winning but it was a toss up, that's a crazy good division that just keeps getting better!
dennis fucks up conor if they fought today.
Bermudez is a serious threat to anyone in the top 10. I think he has a good chance at capturing the belt.
His fight with grice was crazy.. Dunno what kept them standing that night!

The trash talk doesn't work for everyone. So I definitely agree about Conor. I also think if Conor turns out to be a nothing more than a mid-level fighter, no one cares anymore. Crazy high expectations on Conor. I think...
I love it when fighters say 'I'm jealous of the attention fighter x is getting, no ones talking about me' then proceed to say 'I didn't get into MMA to to go all WWE'. It almost implies they chose not to be a star.
The fact is, star quality goes beyond form and ability. Very few people in their chosen field have the X-factor; Conor is one of them.
Conor must now back the hype up or face ridicule. That's the pressure he puts himself under but I also think he needs that pressure to optimise his performances.
Some people have an inner voice that gives them confidence/belief I.e. Weidman. Some people need to hear themselves say it to give them their confidence/belief I.e McGregor.
One approach is a marketing challenge - Weidman.
The other approach is a marketing dream - McGregor.

If competition were the draw, Mundials, Abu Dhabi and NCAA wrestling tourneys would be on network tv and generating money.
People want to see guys punched in the face and they want personalities.
Deliver both?
You make money.
Show me a guy who punches guys in the face and has a confident, charismatic personality and I'll show you a guy who sells tickets, PPV buys and transcends the game.
