Best American....

who do you guys think is the best AMERICAN BJJ COMPETITOR?

im not talking teacher, coach, instructor, im talking competitor.

my pick is kind of older...its bj penn. to be the first american to win the mundial and to go through the mundial without anyone SCORING on you is pretty impressive. My only knock on bj's bjj career is that i think he should have competed more in bjj.

by the way bj in adcc 07!

what do you guys think?

BJ hasnt competed in grappling for years now. In terms of active competitors Rafael Lovato is the most accomplished. Others.. Mike Fowler, Jeff Glover, Paul Schreiner (sp).

Rafael Lovato with the gi.

Dean Lister sans gi.

obvisouly bj hasnt competed in yrs now...im talking about who has been the best american. not who is the best now...

great names so far. keep it up.

fowler and glover have been great on the american scence.

ttt

Moriarty is tough also

There would have been a good chance that Matt Serra would have been
right up there, had he not deciding to pursue MMA full time.

lovato jr. hands down.

BJJ Competitor in a gi?

Rafael Lovato Jr hands down. This isn't really even a discussion....

Hasn't Terrell got an incredible record?

Lovato, Glover, Cooper, Moriarty, Kron Gracie

Lovato Jr.

Kron is looking awesome!!!

Lovato is the most accomplished present day, actively competing American.

guys make sure you are picking the best EVER american competitor. guys like kron are tearing up right now but i dont think kron is the best american bjj competitor ever. way he is going...maybe one day.

If its best ever, it has to be BJ because he won his division as a black belt in the Mundials, and is the only American to do so. But I think Lovato will claim that title soon.

i certainly agree. the fact that bj did it without a point being scored on him is amazing.

Robert Drysdale is a US citizen, and won the Mundials at Pesado in 2005.

ok but would you consider him the best ever american bjj player?
