Best BJJ/MMA documentary

 what do you guys think?

My top 3 are (in no specific order)

RENZO GRACIE LEGACY- Unbelievable behind the scense look into 10 years of Renzos life AS IT HAPPENED!  Very good!

MARIO SPERRY DAY OF THE ZEN- if it had Paul Viele's name on it, you know it is going to be good.  Great look into a day in the life of Ze Mario and the training at the old BTT.  Ze Mario was very candid in the interviews and even goes into detail about the CGT break up, ADCC etc.

FELIPE COSTA THE PATH TO SUCCESS- If you havent seen this GO GET IT NOW. Follows the rise of Comprido black belt Felipe Costa's bjj journey to multiple rooster weight world championships.  One of the best aspects of this doc is that Felipe filmed and produced the whole thing by himself.  Excellent job and just shows Felipe's true dedication to the sport and gives great training tips to someone wanting to follow a similar path.

honorable mention-  CHOKE- its Rickson, enough said and ARTE SUAVE 2.  Not really a documentary so to speak but has some great footage, stories, and training of some of the best bjj players in the game.

anyway those are my top 3 with a nice plug for CHOKE and ARTE SUAVE 2.  what do you guys think?

Smashing Machine is a masterpiece, IMO

ill see if i can dig those up...I remember seeing a GB doc that had fetosa and pe de pano in it preparing for the worlds...is that the one you are talking about?  It was pretty good.

My list is in no particular order.  (too tough to choose 1,2,3)

The Foot Fist Way.

Renzo Gracie - Legacy

Rites of Passage

Pride - Decade

The Smashing Machine

All should be required viewing for TUF noobs.

I haven't seen Pride Decade... but The Smashing Machine brought me to tears. Shows what wanting to be something so bad can cause a person to do. Watching himself inject those steroids into his body made me think of other kinds of drug users,  thinking they "had" to have something,  or maybe just escaping something.... I remember his girlfriend was a witch. (don't know why I thought that), maybe just the way she talked to Mark all the time. Was Pride Decade showed on TV? Or a DVD you had to buy?

I'd have to go

1. Smashing Machine
2. Choke
3. Legacy

Legacy was excellent, but Smashing Machine & Choke are two of my favorite documentaries period, regardless of genre.

the one on discovery channel a while back was a very good introduction to the sport of BJJ... it was an hour long..

Fightquest Brazil i think??

Pride Decade is awesome and is the swansong for the organization.

Its essentially a 3 hour documentary of the history and highlights of Pride.

Starts with the Rickson vs Takada rivallry and why Pride was started, Sakuraba's rise, the 2000 GP, Wanderlei's years, 2003 GP, Mino's reign, Fedor's intrduction, OW GP, Bushido's beginning etc and culminates with the Zuffa purchase.

There are also sections on memorable fights, best submissions, best rivalries.

Its ALL the best moments of Pride and is an amazing watch. So much amazing footage.

I got it via torrent about a year a go I think.

Seriously check it out.

Are there any in depth documentary's about Helio's life?

There is a documentary on jean jeaque machado i have caught on the documentary channel on dish network. I cant recall the name its has spirit in it like spirit of a warrior or something that i thought was really good covers like his growing up learning bjj and how he helped pioneer bjj in the us. They even show alot of adcc footage. Channel 197 on dish. Look for it sometime.

Heart of a Champion?

Good documentary. It shows him at winning sambo tournies and wrecking house at ADCC. Also has a great match between him and Wallid Ismal

Hopefully one will be made about Helio in Englsh. There can;t be many more deserving.

Was that one included as a bonus after one of Feitosa's instructionals?

Choke
