Which defensive style is better mayweather's shoulder roll technique or Wladimir Klitschko's stick to the basics game? 
I'd say Mayweather because his lack of getting hit against high level competition.
Mayweather, take into consideration the speed of the people he's fighting, too.
Most fighters can do basics but Mayweather's defense is on a completely different level. James Toney in his prime was great too but Floyd takes hardly any punishment.
Mayweather, no contest, greatest ever makes top fighters look like amatuers.
Floyd couldn't use Wlads style. He's not always the tallest guy with the best reach in the ring.

It's not about whose better its about which style is better is it better to take wild chances with ur hands down or high gaurd defense first, mostly 1-2's so as not to get countered?

I don't think Wlad's style is defensive. Maybe aggressively defensive or cautiously aggressive would be a better description?
Wlad tends to move forward, his biggest use of lateral movement to cut off the ring and corner his opponent, and he likes to get off first. Mayweather is almost the complete opposite; he fights off the back foot in the philly shell with his lead hand low, he uses lots of lateral movement in center ring, and he rarely initiates exchanges.
this is not even debatable....pbf is a defensive genius...klitschko uses his length really well to keep opponents away
