Best Instruction for Grip Fighting

I need to work on grip fighting, and would like to have a DVD series that focuses on it. Any ideas?

Is Roy's Grip fightng available on DVD still?

It is just $20 on Amazon and I think it was the most useful of the three since it details no-gi grips as well.  There are some sample vids at the link above.  You can't be Roy for instructionals.

Cool! I'll have to check that one out too!

Thumbs up for Roy Harris. I showed up for one of his 40 & over seminars a couple of weeks ago. Only 3 of us showed up. We basically got a 2 hour semi-private with him for a whopping $30. At the end he busted out a couple of free DVDs for each of us. The grip fighting DVD is pretty good.

I just ordered the DVD on Amazon. I have a couple of Roy's old VHS instructionals, and always found them to be top notch. Thanks for the info.

Saulo's second dvd set has a stand-up portion that goes into grip fighting for BJJ and how to set-up takedowns. He goes over breaking the various grips, what to do once the grip is broken and which way to circle ect...

Gripfighting is super important.  It's this more than any other factor that allows you to fend off the attacks of someone who is much bigger and stronger than you.

I haven't seen Roy Harris's or Jimmy Pedro's instructionals, but everything else I've seen by those two guys has been top notch, so I would think that they're excellent.

The two resources that I can vouch for are Emily Kwok and Brandon Mullins, the two people I've worked with to produce the 'How to Defeat the Bigger Stronger Opponent' instructional sets.

Emily Kwok placed a lot of emphasis on gripfighting in the first DVD of the first 5 DVD set.  She initially taught it from the context of being on your feet, but then applies the exact same techniques on the ground so you only need to learn one set of gripfighting techniques.  Her set is available here:  http://www.grapplearts.com/biggerstronger/index.php

Brandon Mullins also emphasized gripfighting.  There are some similarities but, surprisingly, not much overlap with Emily's material.  If I had to characterize the difference between the two sets I'd say that the gripfighting Emily showed was a little more defensive and Brandon's was a little more offensively oriented.  You can get more information about How to Defeat the Bigger Stronger Opponent series 2 here: http://www.grapplearts.com/Blog/bigger-stronger-series-2/

Each of those two sets are professionally produced, factory replicated 5 DVD sets.

If you're only interested in the gripfighting aspect then you can get the most relevant volume from each set as a standalone iPhone, iPad, or Android app.

Here are the links to those two apps:

The Takedowns and Top Position Gameplan with Brandon Mullins app

Oh yeah, on Mginaction grip fighting is probably the number 1 thing Marcelo talks about.

I'm really happy with Roy Harris Grip DVD. Really good stuff. Saw youtube vids on Emily's stuff, will probably end up buying the Android App.

Stephan, thanks for the response and thanks for all the excellent videos you put out. I've purchased many, and will probably get Emily Kwok's gripfighting app as well for when I'm traveling.

Thanks for the kind words Mark.  Apps are great for traveling!
