Best Mayweather vs McGregor Breakdown I've seen

Done by TheWeasel.  Very technical breakdown, much better than any other analysis I've seen so far on this fight.

Barley a few mins in and its clear this guy doesn't know shit about boxing. Floyd usually applies a high guard not the Philly Shell for left handed fighters. These MMA guys don't have what it takes to actually break down and critique a fight. They can't even figure out the most basic difference of strategies Floyd utilizes for left and right handed fighters.

Then he goes into Conors striking range vs Floyd's as if his MMA range with kicks is going to be the same range he will employ in boxing. News flash...there is no kicks in boxing.

Horrible breakdown and that fact that you didn't recognize it as such means you are more clueless than him.

This point about range that has been parroted is absolutely ridiculous. If it was so beneficial, other boxers would be doing it. They don't because when there are no kicking/takedowns its a dumb/counterproductive range to fight from. Good luck to Conor if he tries to land a lead left from MMA range on Floyd. Just LOL. For all the talk of Floyd not being used to Conor's style, Conor is not going to be used to Floyd's style and range at all and will be much much much more out of his element than Floyd might be.

Pretty Boy told me all I need to know.

This. Big fan of his breakdowns but this one in particular was too McGregor/MMA biased. Him talking about it being dangerous for Mayweather to be back against the ring etc. because there are only four corners and etc. made no sense. Mayweather has made a living with his back back against the ropes.

Not the best break down of what may happen in this BOXING match.

"If it was so beneficial, other boxers would be doing it. "

That's basically what I've been saying to people who think Conor's movement and angles will pose a new problem for Floyd.

If there were some other tricky stances or maneuvers that worked in the boxing ring under those rules, boxers would already be using them. To punch Floyd, Conor has to enter boxing range.

That said...

Much the same was said about Karate in the UFC - that wide Karate base, the angles etc just don't translate from Karate rules tournaments to the Octagon. And then we had guys like Machida show up and baffle everyone who was stuck in the idea that it had been figured out by then that Muay Thai/boxing represented the best approach for stand up.

And, if any credence can be put in the words of some of Conor's sparring partners, they do say Conor presents a type of movements they haven't dealt with before.

Not saying to buy in to Conor hype, but there does seem to be some argument, even if small, that Conor can make this more interesting than he's being given credit for by the "Floyd's gonna murder da bum" contingent. (Which tends to include me, as well).

"And, if any credence can be put in the words of some of Conor's sparring partners"

About as much credence as Dean Lister claiming James Toney almost submitted him.

I'm in tears I'm laughing so hard at that picture hahaha

Its actually a really good break down and he deals with the distance and kicks etc. Yeah Conor has to enter boxing range but he does so from farther out then a conventional boxer even when he punches, it's what he's used to.  Prettyboys critisism makes me wonder if he watched the whole thing.  I have some boxing experience. I think he actually does well in what Conor needs to do and use to his advantage but qualify's it with; doesn't mean Conor is going to win. He also has video shots of Floyd to back his claims of Floyds stance in the situations he is clamiing how Floyd stands or moves.

Question is how long does it take Floyd to figure it out. I heard Floyd say in an interview today  they would feel each other out for the first four rounds.  Having said that In Conors boxing sparing videos I have seen so far doesn't look like he is using that range the Video is talking about. Looks like he is trying to box more conventional. If he does that in the fight he will get embarrased and may anyways no matter what he does. Granted those videos may be trolls but will see.

There is the x factor that makes it all interesting. Floyd is 40 it catches up with you no matter, I am over forty and I know. I'll be watching, it will be fun no matter how it goes. There is no shame in losing to Floyd in a boxing match. If he manages to make it the least bit competetive then he will make a good showing. If he wins it would be the greatest upset in sports history. Despite all that and how it looks on paper I have a funny feeling he may win. I know its crazy but as Conor would say I don't give a fook...

No. It's a horrible breakdown. I could go point by point and refute everything he says from why Floyd's pull counter won't be effective, to how  Conor presents danger for Floyd exiting the corner, to Conor's expertise in the clinch. All of it is complete nonesense from someone who clearly isn't proficient in analyzing boxing.
