If you could not own a firearm for legal or other reasons, what would you choose for defense (not carry, but something big to prectect yourself in your home, with lethal force)?
I cannot afford a suitable firearm at this time(till my tax return comes), but was thinking of picking up a CS spear. But I'm also looking at their Battle Axe and War Hammer, Barong, Butterfly Swords. I also like a short sword in the Gladius style, or a Qama. Maybe that would be the most practical. I think a katana would be too long for use indoors.
I'll probably get the spear and train with it and then get a pistol ASAP, but I really got to thinking what if I couldn't have a gun.
What would your choice(s) be?
dog the bounty hunter sized can of pepper spray a bat and my paintball mask for any second hand contamination. I know pepper spray aint the be all end all, but it will blind the guy enough for me to grab a bat and beat the hell out of him without risking being dissarmed.
electric fence pet tiger alien death ray umm a trained dragon hire a bodyguarg whatever try a hammer itst allowed to be in your house you were just about to hang a picture before you beat the pizza guy to death cause he rang your doorbell twice
As this is england, I have a crossbow, compound bow and a mongol style recurve laminated bow for home defence, the mongol style would prob e my choice, plenty of power and quick repeat shots
I haven't even bothered to apply for a UK FAC, the pistol ban took the wind out of my sails as goes to having a gun over here, and anyway, killing somebody with a gun will get you in serious shit, wheras killing somebody with a very expensive historically accurate replica wont be quite so bad.
I really jinxed myself to death starting this topic. I'm 27 and have never been arrested before thursday, when i was charged with a felony (guilty by associatioin, but I had no part in the crime). Even If I only get probation how will I land jobs in the future, but all I can think about is never having a gun again (or 7 years I guess I could apply to). Son of a bitch.
get a good atty, see if there is a possibility of a plea bargain. a lot of times a criminal complaint can be reduced to a misdemeanor if it wasn't serious and the are going on the letter of the law. i was in a similar situation almost exactly one year ago and it's working out.
anyways, my choice would be a fixed bladed knife around 5" blade or so.
Wow, I went to court Thursday and the whole thing is over with, I thought this would take all summer, but it was dropped to a misdemeanor I plead guilty even though I really wasn't it saved a lot of trouble. That is a load off my mind. Still gonna be a real long time till I can purchase a firearm now that I have to pay people back for my legal fees and fines
Lesson-be careful who you keep company with. In this case, my estranged wife, after this whole ordeal was the last straw, I'm gonna let her go for good before she drags me down any farther.
just my right thumb -- forgot the exact line, but sean connery's character in one of his movies said all he needed to beat a guy up was his thumb, right thumb.
I'd go with a good compound bow or crossbow. I would also get maybe a good bowie or a Cold Steel Kukri along with a smaller blade that I can conceal easily.
You don't need a short sword or anything. A good kukri is nasty at close quarters.
