What's the best competition that a 10 y/o kid (who's a brilliant grappler) can enter in NYC?

I'm definetly not familar with your location up there in relation to other cities. I apologize immediatly for replying with what is obviously lack of good knowledge. I believe it has already past but the Hayastan tournaments have been great for my kids. Paul Booe and his guys go to great lengths to make sure it is a good tournament and a safe one. It is one of the few places where my kids can have a good match up in weight class. the bigger tournaments will be better for your kid because more kids, more likely to have a bracket closer in weight and skill level. Search for upcomming tournaments in your willing-to-drive area and see if you can find pictures or results of their past tournamentsto see their kid turnout. People always go back to the good ones. If nothing else just don't pre register and go last minute and see what kind of turnout they have. I am sorry I wasn't more or any help. Good Luck.

NAGA has some huge tournaments in NJ. Go to the NAGA web page for dates, etc.
I've actually considered driving out from Buffalo a few times for them, but then decided spending $300 in a weekend (drive, hotel, tournament fee) to get my ass kicked in 3 minutes wasn't a very good deal. When I think I can last 4 minutes, I'm there though!
