Nintendo has like 30 of the top 50 selling games of the decade. 
Maybe now they'll have enough money so that the sequal to the Wii will be able to put out atleast 720p.

The scary part is Nintendo still makes great games and they seem to not be even trying.

Nintendo remembers something most other game developers seem to forget. Games are supposed to be fun. The hot pocket eating, acne riddled game fan boi is a small audience. There is a huge audience out there that does not care about top of the line graphics, reality simulations or how accurately modeled the guns in the game are. They want to have fun and relax.

Compete? They already destroyed M$ and Sony, business-wise...which is impressive as M$ and Sony haven't been hurting for money either. Nintendo gets that graphics and sound don't trump gameplay. Finally M$ and Sony are getting that as well...which is why we aren't hearing about a next-gen console, when normally we would (3-4 years in).

but the serious gamer market isn't worth the effort.
It would be like Universal or somebody spending tons of money on a movie based on the Dinosaurs sitcom.
