Big Nog wants Lesnar for his return fight

Nog is getting nowhere a top 10 HW these days, at least not one with any measure of speed and power.

It's pointless talking about boxing technique and footwork. The bottom line is that Nog is about 65 in fight years and Lesnar is one of the most powerful guys in the division. Nog would get clubbed around the octagon standing and take a vicious beating. That would happen against anyone who can outspeed and outpower him by ludicrous margins, which is most of the division.

He would be fine on the ground though, as his jiu jitsu hasn't deteriorated. He has had Barnett and Couture on top of him and swept easily enough. Lesnar is bigger but far less experienced.

They should scale Nog's opponents down and keep him away from Carwin, Lesnar, Cain etc. Couture was a good fight for him because he was similarly aged in fight terms and only 220lbs. He still took flush shots, but Couture didn't have the power to put him out.

nog has nothing to prove, breating swock now would prove nothing, he has soundly beaten big juiced up competitors before.

I've wanted to see this fight for a long time. I thought it was a sure thing when Lesnar signed because it just seems like an appropriate match-up. Can't believe it still hasn't happened.

Nog has had some serious injuries in previous fights (and STILL fought)  that nobody even knew about it.  He has finally been getting treated by one of the best specialists in the world and will be ready for whoever the UFC puts in front of him...

CoolStoryBrah - Yikes. That's not a good fight for Nog. I bet Lesnar loves that idea...someone who can't punch him hard in the face while trying to prevent his takedowns. I'd love to see Carwin-Lesnar again though.

Noguiera can totally punch him in the face repeatedly.  His boxing is better than Cain's.  He just has no chin left anymore and doesn't hit nearly as hard as Cain but overall his punching technique, foot work, is superior to Cain's.  For one, he actually knows how to jab.  Cain swings for the fences with almost every punch.  People forget he landed his punch too when Cain KOed him.  He actually broke Cain's nose.

The biggest weakness is that Noguiera's takedown defense is almost non-existent.  He usually doesn't care because he'll take a GnP beating in order to get the submission but I think his days of taking GnP beatings are over.  Also, he's never grappled with someone like Lesnar who could probably shut his jiu-jitsu game down fairly quickly.

Yeh i know the Nog's have very good boxing technique. I just don't see him hitting Lesnar hard enough before Lesnar would land one of his big gorilla punches like the one he did on Randy. A solid hard shot seems to affect Lesnar immeadiately, but i don't think Nog has the power to back him up.

 Nog still beats him.

If Nog can survive a beating like he took from a Roid Raged Sapp and win he can beat Brock. I know that was several years ago but Nog is Friggin Nog.

I just don't think Nog can take a beating like he used to. He's got the heart to take that beating, but i don't think his body can take it.

Grantman - The problem lies in that Nog's whole game was built on his ability to take a shot to get what he wanted. It's the submission version of Chuck Liddell. Both Nog and Chuck took ungodly amounts of punishment in order to implement their game plan. However, when their chins broke, they lost their main weapon. Nog's ground game is superb, but he has not adapted his game towards AVOIDING punishment both on the feet and on the ground because his whole game was just to work THROUGH said punishment....

Like Chuck (in his Franklin fight), Nog has to totally re-tool his game in order to make up for his deficiencies. And like Liddell, I feel it is too little too late. Brock's power means he only has to land one shot (like he did vs Couture/Herring) to end this fight. In his prime, Nog would have tooled Brock. It's too bad really..

Agreed. For a while though, both Nogs have looked like zombies who are only surviving.

Did you folks out there who are bad mouthing Nogs chin see that punch Cain landed? It would of knocked out any HW fighter in any organization.

interesting match-up, i think brock takes it 8 times out of 10, the other 2 a zombie nog pulls a sub out of his ass, but it would be a smart move by the UFC, they get there posterboy a quality win over a legend in the sport

gage949 -  If Nog won it would be epic Phone Post

It would also likely be similar to many of his previous victories that were snatched from the jaws of defeat.  I have no doubt that Brock would make him suffer, but I also have no doubt that Nog could pull a win out from no where.

I love that in every other thread, Brock has been exposed as a fake fighter and a joke, but here it seems pretty universally agreed upon that he would tear Nog apart. Can the ug make up its mind? Phone Post

Great fight, Nog needs a win like this.

100% agree with this.

Wrinkle - Great fight, Nog needs a win like this.

I got Nogueira on this one, I'm not sure how people are coming to the conclusion that Lesnar is going to maul Nogueira on the ground? People wrote Nogueira off coming into the Couture fight and he surprised a lot of people. Then one of the most powerful up and coming HW knocked him out and people are back to doubting him again.

Seriously, Nogueira isn't going to win the belt and he has slowed down but he could definitely handle Brock Lesnar on the ground.

Nog cant take damage anymore, and is VERY slow on the feet. Yes, he did good against Couture, and thats the thing about a fighter that was once the BEST, they will always have a chance of pulling something off, but I wouldnt count on it at this point.

I don't think Brock has much to offer the top heavyweights, but he would steamroller big Nog. Big Nog doesn't have the same durability anymore. Without that he's in trouble. At this point I would pick Brandon Vera to beat Big Nog Phone Post
