Trevor Garrett of Dayton, Ohio defeated UFC veteran Charles McCarthy by guillotine choke in like 30 seconds into Round 1. Apparently he choked McCarthy unconscious.
jh..lol..I just said that very thing on another thread
Congratulations Trevor. I'm sure Charles will make a comeback soon enough.
Good Job to Trevor!
wow. any other results?
huge upset
no one is more suprised than me :). Trevor earned the win and he deserves all the credit. The nap was much needed! :)
now that's a class act response!!
Nonchalant responses to a loss shows lack of enthusiam in a fighter. I prefer when a fighter is pissed off at himself when he loses, that shows passion and love of the game.
McCarthy seems bland, he posts smiley faces as if he just lost a game of table tennis to his younger brother. Couldn't care less, I guess.
This is just my opinion and it hardly should matter enough for the McCarthy possee to get all bent out of shape and issue internet challenges left and right.
Tough loss sir. Hope u bang back fast !
"McCarthy seems bland"
Charles has other, more important things on his mind at the moment. He's getting married next weekend. I doubt he's even dwelling on this loss or fight at all. He has his personal life to take care of.
If you are a professional car washer and you miss a rim or leave a streak on the hood, you don't dwell on it, you let it go and go home, focus on your personal life until it comes time to go to work again. Then you do the best you can not to miss that next rim or leave that streak on the hood. Fighters are no different.
I can't understand why all the fanboys think that fighters are only there for their entertainment or amusement and that they have no other lives outside of their professional endeavors.
Charles is not just a fighter, he is also a person, and that means he has to focus on personal things from time to time. Can it be so difficult to congratulate him on his wedding and wish him happiness?
Leave him alone. He will be back and back on track in no time.
Quote from Michael Jordan...
"I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost more than 300 games. Twenty-six times I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life... And that is why I succeed." - Michael Jordan
Go Chainsaw!
Peace-
Cam
I do not know Charles personally, but he is friends with many of my friends, who I often train with in S. Fl. I have seen him at many shows and I have read many of his posts over the years. Based on his actions and comments....it is fair to say that Charles is a good man, a good fighter, and good for the sport. As far as his response to losing. It was very respectable!
I never understood why negative people (who really don't matter to anyone in the sport), waste their time "attempting", to bash fighters who only improve our sport? Keyboard Warriors....one has to love them!
glad to see ya got a great sence of humor .Still get my props win or lose
Trust me.....
Charles did not take this loss in stride. He was pissed, upset, disappointed, etc.
The difference is that Charles is also a man and he knows that coming on a message board and making up excuses or ranting about a loss is not only childish but pointless.
Like I said, for the next few weeks he has more important things to focus on.
When he comes back he will look at this loss and make adjustments and continue to forge forward. Count on it.
Peace-
Cam
Congrats to Trevor!
I know Charles will bounce back, but I am glad the Ohio-boy came through!
Orion, Thats a great quote by Jordan
Sorry to hear it Charles, You know you'll bounce back even stronger. You have a lot more important things to worry about coming up.
Anything can happen in this sport, which is why you
have the fight.
Three class acts...Cam, Charles and Trevor. All have walked the walk and all handle themselves with dignity and class. Charles will be back. Cam is coming to a venue near you soon, and Garrett is a very strong and obviously underrated fighter!
Nice Jordan Quote, and yeah, fighters are human too!
