Bigfoot vs Gonzaga Bare Knuckle

Is this how we're going to retire our aging generation?

Bare Knuckle is turning into a glorified Bum Fights.

I do know Gonzaga is not doing well financially. He has been driving for Uber recently.

That dude has 22 UFC fights, he had to be getting paid decently at some point?

Seriously, arent there rich white dudes backing brazilian blackbelt bjj gyms around anymore? Couldnt he make bank in Dubai? Uber, wtf, I dont believe it.

Gonzaga does have his own school, but unfortunately, although a great fighter and teacher it does not translate over to business. His overhead on the school is outstandingly high.

Also, Gonzaga can be extremely lazy.

That sucks. He probably rented a 10K a month commercial space and needs a 100 students just to break even.

Ya he needs to move. and by needs i mean he needed to move 5-10 years ago. He is in Ludlow Mass...there isnt shit there. I remember when I was at my peak of training BJJ I wanted to visit team link to train a bit...but never made the trek because theres literally nothing else out that way. I could fly to vegas for the same cost and there are 5 legit schools of varrying disciplines within a stones throw.

He is probably sitting in his LAY-Z-Boy right now.

Reported career earnings from Gonzaga's ufc days are 979k across 11 years. Obviously that doesnt factor in expenses or other revenue streams, but it's strange that he's not at least in a comfortable position.

Does he ever teach seminars or anything?

Let’s not put all the bare knuckle organizations in the same basket.

The BKB organization in England has some pretty good fighters who aren’t washed up MMA fighters. Sweeney and Tyler Goodjohn come to mind.

Would watch.

Has the date been set?

Assuming he gets to keep half of that after paying coaches, managers, other training expenses, taxes etc. that works out around 45k per year.(below average wage) Even if you have a secondary income I.e. running your own school it will undoubtedly suffer due to having to take time off from teaching around fights.

Bear in mind that most fighters tend to be impulsive types by nature and will probably not be in the habit of sensibly putting money away for a rainy day.

Yeah, those are good points.  I assumed that he would have had some lucrative sponsors because of the era he fought in and his bjj notoriety. I remember seeing Bigfoot being gifted a Maserati by one of his sponsors a few years ago

I think you hit the nail on the head with the impulsive comment though. If you make 200k+ (being super generous with that number) you probably live like it and would have a hard time scaling back. Plus American culture has a way of goading people into spending the majority of their income (average American saves around 3% of post tax earnings)

Strange?  Let's say his gym ends up even, no profit and just consider the fight money.

Factor in Coaches, camp, manager and taxes and that probably ends up averaging 4K a month.   Let's make it 4.5k a month with sponsor money.

I spend $1200 a month on food and weigh 160. So that big fuck is spending at least 2k. That leaves him with 2.5K a month. Let's say he lives in a relatively cheap 2 bedroom apartment for $1000 a month. That leaves him with $1500 a month. Car payments, car insurance and miscellaneous leaves with it $1000 a month max.

$1000 a month.  NOW DID I MENTION THAT HE HAS A WIFE AND A LITTLE KID!

Diapers, earrings and preschool!

Of Course he's driving a fucking Uber!
