Bigger Myth: motivated Penn or Unhealthy Shogun ?

Both these fighters have huge followings. Alot of their fans are pretty vocal after a loss. Claims that the fighter wouldve won their bout if A) they were motivated, B) They were healthy going in

After a win those same fans will say they were A) Motivated , B) Finally Healthy

Obviously both groups are delusional but which is the bigger myth ?

Unhealthy shogun. Only because most fans stopped making excuses for Penn whereas Shoguns fans deny he ever lost to a better fighter. Phone Post

 C) The old Vitor.

I'd say this is the winner apart from BJ and Shogun have bigger and more vocal fan bases.

Motivated Penn imo. You can make excuses involving injuries but when your excuse is "wasn't motivated" i think you're pretty lame.

Motivated Penn = when BJ wins. So we have only seen motivated Penn ONCE in his last 5 fights...

Answer C is the winner Phone Post

It's hard coming back from fucking up your knee once, I'm amazed he still competes after destroying it 3 times.

Knee injuries are no joke, anybody who says otherwise have never had one. Phone Post

An injury is clear and definite
But define motivation.. Penn's losses are always attributed to a lack of it

I pick Penn Phone Post

Bingo with motivated BJ next Phone Post

Motivated Penn is a bigger crock of shit than injured Shogun. Shogun cant just decide whether or not hes going to continue being injured, its unavoidable to a degree at this point. BJ's motivation is entirely under his own control, and thus its his own fault when he cant get himself "motivated" for a huge fight worth hundreds of thousands/millions of $'s. Phone Post

Never understood why this was incorrect.

Getting clocked when you drop your hands or throw a loose punch or make a technical error is getting caught.

Healthy Shogun is by far the biggest myth. He would never EVER beat Jones no matter what kind of shape he's in. A guy like Jones (much like Overeem and Diabate) can easily frustrate him with his long style of Muay Thai and take advantage of Rua's poor sense of distance (he simply struggles to stand with tall guys). And the big one, Shogun has TERRIBLE wrestling and his trump card the half guard sweeps simply don't work on Jones who has a BEAST top game and studies his opponents. Jones will 10/10 times take him down and smash him and anyone who intensively grapples with him will 10/10 times gas him out.

BJ Penn is lazy but his biggest weakness is the fact that he is and always has been a frontrunner who gives up if he's not dominating or if he gasses (which is his second biggest issue). He's always motivated but like Belfort, if he doesn't do that well early he quits.

Also he doesn't being at WW.
